Tail light plastic broken
I have a 2015 SDR I bought new and barely have 3k miles and yesterday noticed the tail light crooked. Well like I have read on here many have had this occur. One of the black standoffs broke, tried epoxy but no good so just drilled a small hole used longer screw and for now is is ok but I did call my dealer to see if KTM may honor a coverage even with warranty out on a replacement due to a known problem. No word yet but I bet the will not? I went on a web site that has parts diagrams and the same part number is used all the way to the 17 year so either they have not changed anything or they did and left the number the same.
Got a question for anyone having this occur. On ebay a seller has a tail light for our bikes with integrated turn signals. Has 100 percent feedbacks. Have any of you guys used this? Its less expensive and if KTM has not made changes, hell it may break as well. Just asking.

There is a change with that part. Previous = 61314140000 and later = 61314140200.

Joe
Per parts stream site I am looking at the 14 thru 17 all of them have the 200 part number ( last 3 numbers) . Never seen a 000 number? I guess I can review the blaster led tail light for all sdr riders here since I just bought it on ebay. Got a response from them that they made some change to the mount and none have ever failed and was told for any reason if it did break there they would replace with new plastic for 20 bucks plus me shipping it to them. Warranty on led lights themselves is two years. Also these new tail lights are made in USA.

Joe is correct.
KTM in general is unlike most other brands, in so much as, ANY information, is not clearly communicated with their dealers or their customers. At least in the USA, not sure on other parts of the world.
This board has a lot more information about our bikes than most, though you need a translator if you don't speak the German...

I have seen the old part number published on some sites a while back, but there is at least one when you type in the old part #0000 it kicks back a message the part has been superceded by the #200 number.
It smells of KTM quietly admitting a problem, and avoiding recall for substandard safety equipment.
BTW, I also have the blaster but it is still in the box. I'm leaving all my street stuff off, and intend to do at least one more trackdays next Sunday, followed possibly by 2 more in the coming weeks.

Re: Tail light plastic broken
I believe is pretty common problem. I epoxy both of the stands off once one of them broke. I will try to take a picture later. By the way, the part number is new for 2017, as most have mentioned if you look at yours would be ending with x000 where the new one is x200

Just an update all. Got the programmable led taillight installed and setup for continuous strobe when stopped and brake on. Really cool and should be good letting anyone behind while sitting in traffic see me better. The integrated turn signals let me pull the rear stock signals from my Yosh fender elimination kit. Looks really clean. The company will replace the plastic as well for 20.00 if it ever breaks. It has reinforced standoffs as well. Made here in USA as well.

That's a great tail light. Mine caused a rear light failure code. So I went back to stock. It's super bright and I'm not sorry I bought it. Will play around with it this winter.

NJD,
Didnyou contact them about the code? They stated they had code errors taken care of. Maybe send it it back for a refurb? 20 bucks
