How does your 1190 start?

Mine isn't happy to start when cold but I'm thinking it's to do with fuel. I switch my ignition on and let the fuel pump run till it stops. Ignition off until the relay clicks, on until the fuel pump stops then crank. The engine cranks till it pops out of the exhaust and I stop. Ignition off and on again until the fuel pump stop, then it fires right away.

HOT starts no problem, cold starts like my old 660 SMC

mine is slow to turn over but does start every time, there is an ecu update for this issue so my dealer mech told me, and of course there is the 1290 adv starter mod

Well, it's going to be going back to the dealer soon as it failed to start the other day after having been used the day before. What's your run voltage at? Mine sits at 13.9-14v which I think is a bit low. I would have guessed it should have been 14.5-14.7v while running at riding speeds.

Hoping a get starter upgrade, new battery and regulator lol.

Mine's just had the first service and an ecu update that does seem to have made starting slightly easier, still slow turnover but seems to jump to life that bit easier.
Runs at 14.1v without heated grips and sat nav, 14v when they are in use :)

Hopefully they will get it sorted. I'm not confident enough to be a cocky bleeter about it just yet cause sods law will make it not start just after I've said something daft lol.

Rang the dealer today, they did confirm that there is an update on the software to deal with the starting issue which is automatically done at the service, which, apparently my bike is due :( and batteries aren't covered under warranty after 3 months, double :( :(

Bought a new battery from Tanya, it should come tomorrow.

I'll have to get the bike booked in and part with some cash likely. Still, if that fixes it, it'll be money well spent :)

The joys of KTM ownership, its all coming flooding back :lol:

Mine is a 2013 1190 with 10,500 kms on the clock. She was serviced at 8,000kms in August, paid for by the previous owner and done at a KTM dealer.

Mine starts perfectly first time, every time no matter what the temps, BUT I often connect her to a battery tender via the auxiliary power socket on the dashboard.

I have heard that some guys have updated their battery cables from the battery to the starter and this seem to have solved the problem. I will see if I can found out more about that and post it here.

1190 Adventure starting problems when cold are cured by fitting the 1290 starter. Dealers will do it FOC if you lean on them!

In my diesel car I have an alternator that charges the 12v battery. But how does it work in ours PHEV?

Is there also a 12v alternator besides the 300v on the engine?
Is there a 240v to 12v charger besides the 300v charger?
Is it charged via the main battery, 300v->12v?

I.e. is it possible to run out of power in the 12v battery if I run 100in EV mode?
