Hey DaveW i got the 2 sets of PR5s delivered to my door for $1000, 500 each set, they are cheeper than the PR4s, from what I'm hearing they have more carbon and less silicone on the shoulders for better dry side grip, which i think will overcome the PR4s shortcomings. Im going to run them on both my bikes, but ill fit them on the GT first, and if I'm not totally happy with them i can remove them and fit them on the Multi. I really wanted to try the S21s on the GT but being winter and all, i went PR5 way.

The PR5s felt quite good, but an expensive scrubbing in trip.

Wish I was 'scrubbing in' a set of PR5"s ..........

My Angels are wearing so slowly............. (that would be because I haven't been able to take the GT out for some exercise since early this year  ).

Oh well...... I'll have your experience with them when I do get around to riding again and clocking up some more kms later in my "Annus Horribilius" of a year.... ;).

Cheers all.

I got a ticket on this bike too. I feel like it's kind of a big orange cop beacon. Here The States I don't think our points system is a brutal as you guys, but it still ain't cheap.

I had a radar DaveW, But he got me mid to exiting a corner, i had time to throttle off, but never grabbed any brakes, i wear ear plugs, and have a speaker plugged into the radar, i think I'm going to have to go blue tooth, and have speakers in the ear plugs themselves. Oh i probably need to slow down a little also. :|

1000kms so far on the PR5s, and I'm sold on them, even on a touring GT you can run them to the edge with confidence, love them so far.

Geeze, wet wet wet weather over this side of the ditch.... ...... if I were authorized to ride I'd have to have a set of PR5's on as the Angel GT's are now almost 2 years old, having sat for the best part of 2018 while I recover from surgery :( ....... so I'll have to drop the cold pressures to 32f 34r to burn them up once I'm allowed to get out on the Gt again.......

Is there much benefit to waiting on the Road 5 GT's? I am on Diablo Corsa #'s and they are pretty good...next set will be the Road 5's. And then I will be going to the Angel GT's again because I assume they are still the OEM tire for the GT

The PR5s are a good step up from the the Angels. Angels have been around for a few years now, the PR5 is the latest in tire technology. i like the Rosso III, they took a beating on the MV, i doubt i will get more than 2000kms out of them.

Re: PR5s

Post by Aussie Dave » Sat Nov 10, 2018 10:22 pm

The PR5's should give more even wear than the Corsa's (harder center compound - but not too hard) with more grip than the excellent PR4 touring tyre.

I'd not bother with Angels - they would have been a lowest price tender option as oem (not a best tyre available deal) ..... they aren't better than PR4's and don't last as long (wear flat in the middle tread with an edge) ......eg my PR4's always last 20,000kms (12,000mls) on my heavy old CBR1100XX - the Angels on my 30kg lighter and 30hp stronger GT look like 15k kms max but already have a flat spot at 11300kms and have less feel on damp roads.

I'd expect the PR5's to have the same life as the Angels with heaps more grip and feel (incl wet weather)........ can't wait to prove my expectations ;)

Doc should have my authority to ride by next Friday...... I'm ready for action..... can't wait (but have to :( ).

Cheers from Aus

Dave, this is your Doctor. I hereby grant you the authority :D

So I was just talking tires today. I'm not liking the Angels right now. They're just a bit past the mid-point and they are acting strange in the wet and the wind. They are wearing evenly and will no doubt last a good long time, but I'm not liking them.

There has been allot of complaints with the RP4 fronts slipping, are the RP5s noticeably better? I had Roadsmart 3s on my XR and liked them allot. I will likely go with them unless I hear the fronts PR5s have improved. I'm not one for mixing the front and back tires, don't ask me whey, it's just a thing, so whatever I get is going to have to work front and back, and in the corners and the wet.

:D :D :D .... ..... By crikey, Rock is my Doc...... :D :D Yahoooo........  Thanks heaps Doc,..... errrr,..... Rock........ ;)

I think DaveNZ's pics show he rides them to the edge both front and rear..... so they must hang on - but he would be the one to comment. I also agree, the PR4 front wasn't the best....... I'm assuming you run slightly lower pressures with your Angels...... even so they are only good-ordinary and not a tyre one would crawl over broken glass to buy for the GT.... ;)

Cheers mate...... Friday is on my mind....... that's only 2 sleeps away......... need more cotton wool/bubble wrap to make sure nothing happens to me before then......
