Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
Back again........
Lap top had a bung RAM card........ and I had a virus that put fluid around the heart causing some AF (Arterial Flutter) .......so, 'another' two weeks in hospital, with a drain put in under local anesthetic....... that was fun
...... and the removal was almost as uncomfortable..
..... I'm now recognised by lots of staff....famous I am.....
Anyway, new meds prescribed and back home feeling 20yrs older but starting to get stronger. Bloody hospitals, can't get any sleep, pesky nurses waking me for blood pressure readings just as I dose off....... but at least they seem to have resolved the latest issue.
Put the charger on to the GT's battery - at least it has full spark
Cheers all.......... gonna be a long road to recovery for me....... unless no more potholes come my way

Sorry to hear about the complications Dave. High cholesterol and blood pressure run in my family and at 65 years old I see my Cardiologist on a regular basis. In fact I have a stress test scheduled in July. I’m hopeful all my meds will keep me from going through what you are, but I know it’s a very real possibility.
Best wishes to you.

Cheers all, thanks for the encouragement
Hoping to be strong and ready for some pulse raising excitement in spring...... hopefully my run of 'bad luck' has ended and I can get back to >90% so I can throw a leg over the orange bike
Counted the pills I take daily........ so far 11. Some will stop soon but before March I took only one tablet for cholesterol
Still better than the alternative

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
Hey Dave Un Zud........ you're not helping at all with pics like that!
Got a ride in today....
........ of sorts - I am strong enough now to start my bikes and ride them from temporary storage in my neighbour's spare garage, across the grass and back into my garage......... bikes were moved to allow easy access for the new rolla door (with remote electric opening no less
) to be installed. My BMW friends turned up last month to move my stuff when I was all bunged up from the first operation, but now they are bunged up with sore shoulders (prob caused by moving my stuff
).
Anyway, short as it was, I enjoyed the 20mtr rides, and now my kingdom is complete with bikes back in place
Gotta make sure I don't overdo things....... don't want any more setbacks to recovery
Cheers all.

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
Yep, you guessed it..
..... I overdid it yesterday...... moving bikes, pumping tyres up (with my compressor) and also doing the Tucson's tyres....... shoulda known to leave it for another week..
.
Oh well, my local GP says driving approval has to wait about 3 weeks to let the most recent operation and medications settle and also to see how I go with more walking and rehab exercise sessions...... don't want to be that driver who faints while driving eh
.
Groan..... was too tired to stay up and watch the MotoGP telecast last night..... so I'll catch the replay on Friday morning.......... and don't anybody tell me the old bugger 'VR46' won (heard that already
= everyone else must have crashed
).
Cheers all.

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
Well........ now I'm feeling like I'm a really old oldbugger........
The esteemed doctors at the big hospital decided to adjust my tablets and also slice me open to install an ICD (errr, that's an internal defibrillator with pacemaker) to make sure my heart rate doesn't go too slowww or too faaast.
Seems I'm the odd one out when it comes to recovering from by=pass surgery
Anyway, I'm home again after a week in the 'wards'........ and feeling ok........ but I still have to take it very easy to allow the ICD's wires to settle in place, and, of course, let the muscle pain in my left chest ease
.
Not a bad experience..... would have preferred not to need heart surgery, but them's the breaks eh
Not looking like I'll be back on the GT any time soon........ but I'm hoping for September, so long as no more setbacks come my way...
Ps the really hard part was turning down the invite to my financial planners EoFY piss-up...... that hurts

Re: Well That Was a Surprise...
G'day Mick,
Actually........ Lorenzo won his first race start to finish....... my BMW mate got that wrong (about VR46 winning
). My good buddy c/w a 2017 model RT1200 which needs a new ECU to fix a failure in the electric screen and security alarm (he's not impressed with BMW Euro's service either
) before venturing out into the back blocks of northern Queensland....... may have confused VR46's 'fastest qualifying lap' with winning the MotoGP.
I managed to see a few laps while in hospital and VR was in third place with 9 laps to go when I was called back to my room for a doctor visit.....
.
So my apologies for causing anyone's heart rate to rise, but the Ducati and Honda guys had 1st & 2nd locked in. At last the Ducati team listened to poor Lorenzo and fitted some extra padding to the tank to make the bike support his weight while braking from 340kph......... so the Spaniard hasn't forgotten how to ride after all
.
Oh yeah........ my little breast implant (
) is controlling the low heart rate nicely and I'm feeling way more confident this time while doing normal things........ don't ever want any more dizzyness/light headed sensations again.......
.
Cheers all
PS Time to put the charger on to the bikes (and the new battery I bought over Xmas17 ready for the CBR11xx). Tyres pumped up...... ready fer action....... just waiting for a driver

Cheers jfw........ rocket man was directing his warm greetings towards the other Dave (Dave in Newzealand), so I couldn't take offence........ they were having a discussion about the big 'Don'........ which can lead to a scary place.....
I wonder if rocketcaptain is an SDGT owner or just a troll with an ego issue........ we have plenty like him over here....... but we tend to export them to New Zealand as soon as we find them......
(Cheers DaveNZ).
I appreciate the thought though....... and we follow his exploits in the daily news reports....... looks like he wants to bomb those silly towel heads in Iran now........ maybe they will become best buddies like "little rocket man" in North Korea........
