Had a Brembo brake recall with my Aprillia in 2015/16.......everybody got worried, but it was just a 10min plunger swap job and was done as a precaution. Some bikes had lever sponginess, but most were fine for normal use until the little plunger was replaced.

I expect this recall of the Italian premium brand will be similar - ie, keep riding, but just ease off the front end stoppies eh ! - until it's done.... ;)

I haven't seen any Aus recall notice yet......so I await further instructions....... ;)

I rang my dealership in Brisbane, Australia. They are aware of the recall and have put me in the list.
Waiting for the kits to arrive.

Interesting based on the VIN, my 2015 SDR isn't part of the recall. Checked KTM and NHTSA website.

I've been out of the country for a couple of months, just got back and expected to find a the front master cylinder piston recall notice waiting for me but there was nothing. I called my KTM Dealer today to ask if they had heard of anything and he knew all about it and is ordering the parts to be fitted next week. I'll have new fluid put in the rear brake and clutch at the same time although this will be a service not a warranty. They will also look at the a warning code for the lights which came on the last time I rode it although the lights themselves seemed OK.

I contacted KTM USA and left a message to try to get confirmation of the warranty I have on the bike. I was told verbally by the dealer that that I would have 2 years on this 2016 SD-GT but the leaflet he gave me only mentions 2017 models and I need to be sure.

On the ktm site there is a page that lets you put in your serial number and it tells you whether it needs the recall

  Just received my 'Recall' letter in the post.......so I phoned KTM Central an they are ordering the parts (seems mine is also up for the fuel pump as well). So when the bits arrive I'll book in for a Saturday morning coffee while it gets done.

Desk operator said the Brembo plunger thing was most probably affected by time and so long as i wasn't doing any track days it wasn't likely to be an issue for normal riding........ha......normal riding  .......yeah right, when it stops raining and flooding on weekends........what a summer 2018 ...... I'm still languishing on 11,200kms and  haven't worn out my Angel GT's yet ...... was expecting to have had the 15k km service done and dusted well before the 12month anniversary  ...... go away cyclonic rainy tropical stormy crap weekend weather (but the rain was nice = grass is green already)....

My bike is with team Moto Virginia getting the brake recall done today.
I never received a letter, but just rang them instead.

Hi all,
I rang my dealer here in Christchurch NZ the other day too.
They know about the recall and are waiting on parts to arrive and will let me know when the parts turn up.

Cheers

Anyone got a recall on this?

Brembo SpA, a leader in the production of disc brake systems for vehicles, following the recent publication of some articles by the international press, mentioning wrong information, points out that:

- Thanks to the constant quality monitoring over its production processes, it has uncovered the possibility of defects to the piston of the front radial master cylinder (diameters 15mm and 16mm), sold between 2015 and 2017 and mounted on some motorcycle models.

- The only manufacturers affected are:
Aprilia
Ducati
KTM
MV Agusta
TM Racing
Moto Morini
Horex

- The recall does not affect other manufacturers nor other master cylinders, or master cylinders sold as Aftermarket kits through the Brembo distribution network.

Brembo promptly informed the manufacturers of the problem so that the owners of the aforementioned bikes could be informed and invited to have the part replaced at the nearest dealership.

Finally got the acknowledgment from my dealer today of the recall. Things move slowly in KTM Canada

I had a call from my dealer today and they said if I tell then the number on the break piston area.Which is underneath/side facing your dash.
If you give then that number they can tell if your bike needs the recall.

cheers

The letter on Vet57's post pretty much states 2015-2017 has to be done (that would be all of the Brembo's on GT's)...so I'd say call your local dealer and register rather than wait for the postman......and then book in and wait some more (like me  ) .

Probably nothing to really worry about as it is only a 'possibility' the piston plunger thingy might fail...... but better to get it done sooner than later.... ;)

How long does brake recall fix take to get done? Can dealer do it while you wait, or must you leave the bike for all day or over night? I have logistics to work out if I have to leave the bike; It's a 100-mile or so round trip. Plus, I really dont want to have to trailer it.

:( Rainy drizzly morning.....oh no.....it's the weekend :o ........again.

Oh well, KTM have my Brembo bits, but they are waiting for the fuel pump part/parts (whatever) to arrive before calling me in for a coffee.......luckily there are only fumes in the tank from my last short ride 8-)

Haven't done much riding last couple of weeks......weather has been most unkind......so no big deal waiting for the recall to be completed :) .

Decided to clip my Ctek charger onto the Kat's battery - gotta do some sort of maintenance ;) ..... not much else to do ...... hah, I'll have to reset the time & date when I reconnect the earth lead.....

I took my GT into the dealer on Saturday morning.
Booked in Monday to do the recall.
You mentioned in a earlier post that you were getting a set of PR5s.
Did you get a set?You will have no excuse to ride in the rain haha
I've also pre ordered a set myself

I have been on the list for the parts for almost a month. Had my 15K service scheduled and it got pushed back because they dont have the parts yet.
