Anyone try National Cycle V-Steam wind screen.
I have one of their windscreens on my S1000R. Their products are first class. In fact, they make a lot of OEM winshields for the Motorcycle manufacturers.
What I like about this is that it’s available in a very dark tint, is slightly bigger that stock and costs the same as the KTM accessory screen. I think it looks really good too.

Oh WOW....... that's one great looking screen! Wish I had seen that when I was searching the infernal web..
I'd have one of them instead of the Pug - makes the GT look really purdy toooo
Lots of great stuff becoming available now.........

Re: Anyone try National Cycle V-Steam wind screen.
Looks great but....that won't make a bit of difference over the OEM screen in terms of wind deflection.
I've had great results from this Puig with integrated spoiler. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Windscreen-Pui ... eA&vxp=mtr
I actually like the look. When I rode this bike 4+ hrs on the interstate with the original windscreen it was really tough. Now wind isn't an issue on the interstate.

How do you know it won't make a difference? Did you look at the digital overlay of the stock and v-Streams? It is different.

I don't care how good a screen works
, its about the "looks" if it works great but looks shit, I'm not interested
, now if it looks great like this V-Stream, and its better than the standard, I'm interested
, but for now I'm happy with the stock tinted screen.

Agreed Twisty, I've got the Puig and it works well.......but that Vstream sure looks good in 95% tint (makes Gt look agressive
)..... they are longer and wider than OEM (see the overlay chart) and claim the 'V' design shifts air away from the visor....... prob not the best for a cold wet Euro climate...but it is midway between the height of the Puig and the OEM screen ......anyway, three cheers for more options becoming available

Re: Anyone try National Cycle V-Steam wind screen.
Exactly why I'm interested in it. I will probably buy it. I actually like relatively short screens. Living in Houston allows me to be comfortable with them most of the year. I don't own the bike yet, so I don't know how much difference the adjustment will make for me. Once I find that out I'll know what I need. I usually wind up with two windshields for my bikes because I ride all year around, even with temps in the 30s (F).Aussie Dave wrote: ↑Sat Feb 03, 2018 8:55 pmAgreed Twisty, I've got the Puig and it works well.......but that Vstream sure looks good in 95% tint (makes Gt look agressive)..... they are longer and wider than OEM (see the overlay chart) and claim the 'V' design shifts air away from the visor....... prob not the best for a cold wet Euro climate...but it is midway between the height of the Puig and the OEM screen ......anyway, three cheers for more options becoming available

I sure can't wait to get the bike. Should be here Tuesday or Wednesday if they actually did ship it this time when they said they would!

Re: Anyone try National Cycle V-Steam wind screen.
I was just at the dealer two hours ago. They called the zone rep while I was there. The bike is still sitting in a warehouse in Virginia. The dealer found out that I have a temper, but I told them repeatedly it was not aimed at the them.
When I got home I called KTM North America. I never got anyone on the line but left a detailed message telling them that over the past three weeks I was told twice that the bike was going to be delivered "tomorrow". I had also asked the dealer to have the zone rep call me. Will be interesting to see if anyone calls.

That sounds like the KTM US, I am used to dealing with. Virginia is the KTM warehouse where my Adventure came out of. Hopefully, your dealer friend there in La Marque has some stroke with them. I don't know why, but they seem to handle things in their own time. Good luck, I would be interested in hearing if they actually contact you.

Unfortunately the GM/Owner is out of the country. His son is doing everything he can. I’ve just traded voice messages with KTM Customer Service. I find it hard to imagine that as lousy as the motorcycle industry has been the past few years that any company can be so apathetic to customer service.

Re: Anyone try National Cycle V-Steam wind screen.
The lady I traded messages with early today just left me another message and credit to her she is now trying to escalate the issue within KTM rather than just direct me back to the dealer.
She confirmed that there is currently no "ETA" for the bike getting to e dealer. It totally dumbfounds me that I committed to a bike four weeks ago today to a motorcycle that they confirmed was sitting in the warehouse in Virginia, and three weeks ago today they told me it would ship the next day, and a week ago today they said it was going to ship the next day, but today they cannot tell me when it's going to ship.
I'm in the wholesale distribution business. I've worked for a few such companies (in the electrical supply business). Somebody would have been fired if we gave a customer this kind of service.

Re: Anyone try National Cycle V-Steam wind screen.
Cheers (in advance) mate...... hope the left hand finds out what the right hand is doing over in Virginia!
The OEM screen can raise about 7cm (from memory) between lowest and highest......I thought I saw some mention of this in the Vstream diagram/overlay......err checking facts.....no mention......ahem....alternative facts required..
Anyway, it should give the sporty Vstream about half the height of a Puig [oops, meant to say half the extra height......
] (which is rather tall at 13cm longer than OEM) - or the Vstream touring version might be close to the Puig if you want max cover.
I thought the Vstream looked great in the dead ahead view......but the side quarter pic is not so flattering. Would be great to see one in the real world

Re: Anyone try National Cycle V-Steam wind screen.
Thanks Dave. I agree with your comment about the side view. It appears to be more vertical than the stock screen that appears to lay back a little more. I find it hard to imagine that it really is, who knows. I’m guessing I’ll buy it anyway. Two things I buy a lot of are windshields and gloves. I have three aftermarket windshields for my S1000R that I’m trading in.

I love my CalSci shield. Good for winter riding; it blocks the cold air flow, and makes riding much more comfortable.
Comes in three sizes; I got the middle size.

Yes but it doesn't fit shipped with hardware that has American thread pitch vs metric
Attempted to install & was perplexed as it is very close had someone I know who is an industrial designer check out & yup wrong thread pitch on male end of spacers

Is that the National Cycle one you refer to as having US thread pitch?Vortex1290 wrote:Yes but it doesn't fit shipped with hardware that has American thread pitch vs metric

Vstreams seem to be out of stock for a while now. Could it be they're not making a screen for the GT anymore? that was pretty much the only screen I felt didn't kill the looks of the bike.
Re: Anyone try National Cycle V-Steam wind screen.
Just ordered one and it's on the way.

I look forward to your review. I’m the original OP of this thread. I’ve been in the middle of a number of other projects....just had Sargent make me a seat which I hope to do a report on soon, just got in a new set of wheels for my car (long story), lots of new tires for my motorcycles for a variety of reasons, including that I’m about to leave on a 4,200 mile trip on my 1600 BMW......soooooo, when I get back the windscreen is still on my list!
