Akrapovic baffle removal

Post by Gridiron » Wed Jul 26, 2017 8:26 am

Hi, I am having trouble removing the baffle from my Superduke GT's Akrapovic slip on can. I've taken out the rubber grommet and the bolt underneath, but it still will not come out. Any advice greatly appreciated, cheers.

When i had an Acra on my 1290R, i too had trouble removing that screw behind the gromet. What i found, or what it looked like to me was, The screw that holds the baffle in, is connected to a rod, and as the screw is tightened, it sheers off, leaving the screw in tight, but unable to be removed, i drilled it, and hit a hex key into the hole, and wound it out. Well that was my acra, yours could be different, I've noticed on my Remus muffler, the baffle is held in by a similar screw, but it has a small spot weld holding it in place solid. (small coal chisel should sort that little fuker out) . Good luck removing it.

It's most likely a tamper proof screw (the little rod nub) preventing a tool from fitting into the head of the bolt. Then. Either an interference fit between the baffle and pipe and or a weld somewhere. Euro 4 rules state that the baffle must be installed in such a way to cause damage to the pipe if removed. Nice ha? I have heard that the slip ons for the full systems are not installed the same way , but they are technically not street legal.
