Hey Kev, is this something that you would recommend to do? Re flashing . Also will it void my warranty. (Can Ktm tell it has been done) I've just bought a PCV and I'm booked in to the Dyno on this coming Saturday. I also decated it this week.

Re: ADV 1190 & 1290 can now be reflashed in Oz
I have been reflashing bikes for years now, I do around 10 to 15 a month mostly Yamaha's R1, R6 MT09's, also flash Suzuki's & Kawa's but the Yamaha's are my bulk of reflashes.
A PCV can only ready correct the A/F ratio's, if you have an ignition module with your PCV you will be able to adjust the ignition tables as well.
With a reflash the tuner can work with the throttle maps, adjusting them in all modes to any progression they want, I would have to verify with Darren but think they should be able to do the decal throttle maps which affects compression braking. Correct the A/F ratio + ignitions, turn off the O2 closed loop & SAS system. I will get a full brake down for everyone on what can be done.
If I was going to keep my 1290 I would be the first inline for a reflash + a custom PCV map for my bike.

I don't understand anything you have said ! If you don't mind I will ring you, I still have your # from the speedo correction rings. I came to your place to pick the rings up. We need to talk if you don't mind?

Very keen to hear your full breakdown of what is available Kev.
A before and after dyno graph with torque and A/F ratios would have been nice but Darren mentioned when he initially dyno'd his 1190 there was an issue with the dyno so these aren't available.

Re: ADV 1190 & 1290 can now be reflashed in Oz
I am sure Darren would not mined me passing on this info, ECUwest - Performance Technology
For the ADV R I have made maps for every conceivable combinations of mods you can do. I will do the same when we get a 1290 SD in.
The tune file on these bikes are unbelievably complex, there are like 90 Fly by wire maps which we had to define in to modes and gears, so yes we do all throttle, spark, alpha n and speed density maps, I only tune street and sport leaving the other 2 modes stock.
We raise the rev limit to what ever is wanted too
I can turn off O2 but its not necessary as the throttle transition is real smooth and the AFRs are bang on when in closed loop so we leave it on. I don't bother with AIS as I block it off.

Re: ADV 1190 & 1290 can now be reflashed in Oz
sounds a bit like the Yamaha YEC race ECU. Have to tune for every 500 rpm increment at multiple throttle positions. Then throw in timing and velocity stack movement. DAYS I tell ya!!!
I'm really curious as to the base tune settings, Street/Sport/Offroad if MTC was on or off etc etc etc. And what the post tune settings are if their was any impact to offroad, etc etc.
Would be cool to have this "Uncorked" map work on the sport mode, then the other 3 were untouched. But i'm not sure how the maps are accessed, or if there are multiple maps in the ECU.
Too many questions I know.

Wonderful! Ok but, what about the standard 1190 model? Are you able to map that too? Do you think it'll be possible to send you the ecu, remap it and send it back...maybe, internationally?
thanks again for this awesome news!

Dave send Darren a message, he has many versions of the maps for all the different mods & has a standard bike setup.Eagle2 wrote:Wonderful! Ok but, what about the standard 1190 model? Could well be, the 1190 ADV is quite restricted.

Re: ADV 1190 & 1290 can now be reflashed in Oz
Kev, isn't it better to build a map on a dyno using this reflashing tool?
Why do you need a pcv afterwards if you can reflash the ecu?
Thanks

Re: ADV 1190 & 1290 can now be reflashed in Oz
Their is only Darren doing it in Australia & he lives in Perth which is a 5hr plane ride across the country from the East coast to the West, getting your bike to him is not viable unless you live in Perth.
I reflash a few OEM ECU's & mostly use Tune Link software via a PCV, then import the custom maps while on the Dyno, it save a lot of money as tune link can built a complete map in 45min instead of spending hours on the Dyno & doing it by hand.
If I still had my 1290 I would post off my ECU to be flashed unrestricted & then confirm my A/F ratio on my bike using a PCV when I got the ECU back, I am sure Darren's A/F ratio's will be closed but there are no two bikes in the world that run the exact same A/F ratio & I am a fussy bugger when it comes to my bikes tune.

Has anybody done one of these re flashes Yet on there 1190? He says only the R model. But I imagine it would be the same as the S model. Same motor? What is involve to get the ECU out to mail it to WA

Same motor, same ecu.rexe wrote:Has anybody done one of these re flashes Yet on there 1190? He says only the R model. But I imagine it would be the same as the S model. Same motor? What is involve to get the ECU out to mail it to WA
I'm still not convinced at this stage of the mail option. It would be different if there was a large catalogue of dyno runs with the different mods available (rott airbox/powercell/unifilter/arrow headers/silencer only etc) to minimise the differences between each bike and their respective tune but to have to pay for the ecu tune then another $400 for the power commander plus dyno time to confirm the A/F's just doesn't make sense to me.
I don't know, maybe I'm just being super cautious, maybe Darren has done hundreds of runs with various 1190's with differing states of modifications but there can't be that many living over there surely

Re: ADV 1190 & 1290 can now be reflashed in Oz
Well I already have a power commander V. Decated, sas removed,DNA filter, wings slip on. And Dynoed. The bike is so smooth and feels fast. 135 HP on the Dyno. But as the say. More power, more power. I don't need it, but if it only cost $500 bucks + another run on the Dyno run. Happy Days reliability would be my only concern.
