Selling SMT for SMR

I already did it so this isn't a question, more of a fact.
I bought my SMT over a year ago, sold my Superduke mostly for comfort reasons. I never gelled with the SMT but also didn't get enough riding time either. I have been riding and racing since I was 4, now I am 50. The SMT was still too soft for me so it only has 1200km's on it, yeah that's right, kinda embarrassing!
A month ago I found a 3rd owner SMR with only 4000km's so I snatched it up, rode it home in a torrential rainstorm for 3 hours, fricken love it, I mean reeaally love it!
I am a 'track guy' at heart and the SMR calls my name!
Anyone in Canada want a new 2010 SMT?

Thanks, love the site still! Vinny

I know my 2010 990 SMR is on the list of one of my most fun bikes that I have owned.

Thanks Kevin! It wasn't because I didn't like the SMT, more because it isn't 'raw' enough for me.the SMR suspension is harsh for some but perfect for me, it feels like my track bikes and stays more planted at speed.

I preferred my SMR over my SMT, the SMT just had better fuel range.

I've owned many KTMs and still own several including a 530 exc and an 1190 adv but the 990 SMR was always on "my list of must-haves" and they're rare as hen's teeth in Canada so when a perfect example came up for sale, I grabbed it and this past week were the first two days of fun riding opportunities I had. It's a brilliant machine - amazing chassis and engine dynamics, such a great and comfy package for all-day-hooliganing but yes, the small fuel capacity is annoying so I'm wondering what I can without sacrificing much of the bike's beauty or balance and have been pondering an under-seat fuel tank like ones that have been made for the 990 adventure (not the ones that replace one of the dual mufflers). I've had a look under the seat to gauge the possibility (even five to six litres extra would be brilliant) and I'm currently stuck at "what can I do with the battery." The 990 adventure's battery is down below at the front of the engine - not an option on the SMR. Does anyone else have any other ideas / thoughts / etc?

Thanks and congrats on buying one of the best road fun bikes ever made!

I know this is a month late, but is the SMT still available?

Yes it is, I barely posted it for sale and then winterized it so I deleted my for sale add. I replied to your PM.

I know this is an old thread but loved my SMR so much that I had to reply

I put about 12,000 miles on mine and actually a good bit of it in Northern Cali and all along Hwy 1

Wow what a great / fun bike

I did end up selling the SMT to Org that posted in this thread, he flew in last spring and stayed overnight and rode it home 2000km roughly.
I love my SMR except for the seat after an hour, the SMT is not an option as I hated it too, not many options here, often I modify my own and that may be what I have to do.
My only other complaint is that the stock tires were worn, although I rode it home 3 hours in a rainstorm, freezing cold, at 100mph it still handled great! I had a set of Michelin Pilot Power 3's put on, and now it weaves like a bitch at speed, besides that it handles well, but when I pass on the highway I bet I look like I'm going to go down, knees tight and tucked in its almost ridiculous at 125mph!
I only have 500km on the PP3's but they have to go! Anyone with experience on a SMR have a suggestion? I never noticed it at all on the stockers?

So my SMR came with the KTM hardparts flyswatter windscreen, I added white handgaurds and thought they might be the problem as it weaves at 125kms in heavy wind.
While doing some maintenance I took off the Flyswatter screen and decided to go for a ride, it was very windy out, 180kms and no weaving anymore, that was it and it wasn't the tires!
Woohoo! Taking the full windblast now but it handles well now!
