Just joined the forum and bought this gem around 11 weeks ago and have done 9250 klms and going out again tomorrow. Have already fitted lots of carbon, Evotech crash knobs and front engine plate, CRG levers, Akropovic muffler with baffle removed, KTM rear fender eliminator, custom rego plate, Sato engine R/H cover protector and frame plugs, KTM front & rear brake cylinder covers & clutch lid, Powerparts gel seat, Ventura rack with more to come.

Software update to 2.22 completed today. Just rode home from the shop, so not much chance to see how it's working, but I can tell a difference in engine smoothness. Like it.

If this is the version you got from the dash it might not have done anything. The dash only shows the software version of the dash and nothing else. There are many other controllers on the bike that all have their own software and the only way to know what version they are on is to get a printout from the diagnostic machine.

They spent time over several days and did every upgrade possible. I didn't get a printout but the tech spoke of working on a bunch of systems. A couple they had trouble with and had to consult KTM on, use different modules from 1190 Adv, 1290 SA, etc to get it to work right.

I'll go back today to let him know how it's running, tell him I appreciate his help, and see if I can get the full report. The techs are in love with my bike, so I'm pretty sure that as long as I'm nice to them they will be helpful. I'm certainly not going to play the snob with them, so I bet we'll get on well.

I'm certain they want to keep my business as they spent a lot of time and went over the bike carefully, but only charged for one hour of labor. I was pleasantly surprised about that, and let them know I appreciate it.

There are only 2 other SDR's here in Wichita. One of them is owned by a good friend of mine, also well known and liked at the shop, so I'm thinking it will be a cozy little group. As I said, everyone loves the bike.

edit: They also loaded the factory Akra map, which they thought would be the best fit to my decatted Remus exhaust. I have not yet learned the details and specifics of what that entails, or how it is different from the standard map. I'll be adding a PCV soon anyway, but I think it's a step in the right direction.

There is a lot to learn about these bikes.

So I went back to the shop today, and asked them to print out the diagnostic sheets. Verified with searches here and on the other channel that they loaded the Akra map to the Engine control ECU, as they indicated that they had.

You know it's bad when you're asked to pop in to the shop and make an interim payment on the repairs being carried out.

While I was down there I took a snap of the exhaust. New one on order, to go with the new clocks and subframe. Despite that, the bill for labour still exceeds the bill for parts.

I had no idea that they made fancy nuts.

Aside from the brake pads being installed, I'd say the bike is mostly finished.

4 snap-on fork running/signal lights ■ rear LED signal strips ■ Galfer sintered brake pads ■ Bodis decat ■ Akrapovic slipon ■ Puig fender eliminator ■ KTM solo seat cover ■ Power Commander 5 ■ Dynojet quick shifter ■ Rottweiler stage 3 SAS emissions removal ■ Motohooligan intake ■ CRG LS 3.2 bar end mirrors ■ Black shorty levers ■ LED headlight ■ Powerbronze belly pan ■ Evotech Performance radiator guard ■ Orange decals removed

tonyteeth, I've looked everywhere for a pic of that Powerbronze piece. Would you post up a few more pics of it? Thanks a ton!

Yes, thank you. I meant one that was in its natural habitat in the wild. I wanted to see how it actually looked in real life. There were two shots I hadn't seen before in your link though, so thanks for those.

Made a minor repair to the plate holder. I made a dumb move -- attempted to merge my Track-kick into my SMT. Apparently God has a greater purpose for that bike -- I pushed it forward and it didn't fall over (with the rear bumper). It did damage the plate carrier.

But -- after over 2 years I finally turned the risers 180 degrees. Big stuff.
Mods: arrow exhaust, 2nd flies removed, plugged air injection caps, JC30-80 air filter, 44T sprocket, 80w high beam, short levers, weighted bar ends, Rox risers, remapped ecu, heated grips, horn, radiator screen, crash bar, skid plate, backrest.

hi all Finally did all the things i wanted for the 1290 SD GT

SAS removal
Canister removal
O2 removal
Akropovic slip on
Arrow mid pipe ( decat )

so the bike feels amazing however it is actually drinking fuel and i am going to have a PC5 and dyno.
i had a quote from a company for PC5 + installing and mapping for GT. They quoted £580 is this too much or reasonable what you guys think ?

Cheers [THUMBS UP SIGN] for the honest reply, with suffering with tinnitus for the last 6 months I think I'll give the link pipe a miss.
