What did you do to your ktm today?

Post by BearG » Sun Jul 03, 2011 11:34 am

Post anything, did you wash your beast or fit a new exhaust?

I removed the rubber inserts in the footpegs to give a small bit of legroom (I'm a tall bugger) - looking at fastway lowboy pegs to give a bit more, but not sure the footpeg clevis is the same as the Adventure (it looks the same).

I'd like to hear how those pegs work out for you! I'm thinking a very slightly lower set would be handy for me as well.

Let me know how that works for you re the need to remap etc.

If you have a dyno run to back up the claims I'd be really interested.
SMT - Quill Ti Evo2 cans, MWR air filter, modded airbox, re-mapped by X-bikes w/tuneboy.
KTM panniers, tail & tank bags, tall screen, h/grips, gel seat.
Matt black painted Skidmarx hugger & side panels w/white decals.

Picked and polished off the dud warning stickers on the tank. Seriously, what is the point of them? Who read the manual before riding their bike away from the stealership?

^^^ My buddy almost fell over when I removed those stickers! He's into vintage bikes and said that I ruined the potential value of the bike 30 years from now by doing that. I told him he needed to loosen up.

Absolutely nothing for the last four weeks, got back from a 1900 mile, six day trip to Spain chucked the bike in the garage covered in flies and general road grime and cant be bothered to clean it.

Had first service, hello 8k rpm :)

Installed my roxspeedfx bar risers and fastway lowboy footpegs - loving the ergo's, now I know what a bike is supposed to feel like! Not completely happy with the look of the risers, but may have to take function over form. I'll see how they go.

Gave the beast the full treatment - wash, chamois, claybar, polish - looks pretty sweet!

nice pegs! Had some SWmotec ones like that on my last bike, and man they were comfy. Does the gear shift side pivot?

Fitted KTM anodised orange bar ends.

Also, made up some custom s/s exhaust guards - I needed them to hide the joint between the Quill cans and standard exhaust 'y' piece. It'll never look as clean as the Akro set up - but then the cans were a fraction of the price and the guards cost bugger all (my mate has a metal fabrication business).

I'll try to get a new pic up - after I've had the remote preload adjuster fitted. The guards look ok - from a distance at least! ;)

Wound all my suspension settings out to comfort - just going to give a go for a while then try standard and sport. They all appeared to be close to the standard setting originally. Considering the rear preload adjuster as well. It felt a little loose on first impression, but man does it soak up the bumps.

On a sour note, have an oil leak after first service - appears to be coming from the filter seal. Back to the stealership we go...

Its been a while, but washed and polished the beast this weekend. Blacked out my heat shields and fitted a touratech tail bag. Went for a ride up Mt Nebo. Ordered a set of FMF cans from the states... can't wait for more bark!

Nothing. There was a delay on some of the bits I wanted and it's still at the dealer with zero miles on the clock.
