Which looks better

Post by pk1 » Sat Oct 20, 2018 5:42 pm

I de catted the gt but couldnt fit the original black heat shield. So i got a short carbon one from ebay. This attached via 2x jubilee clips with a threaded bolt on them.
I then refitted the original heat shield using these jubilee clips with just a false fixing bolt in the middle.
Cant decide which looks best?

Well looked at my bike today to realise the heat shield was not in place 🤬 the nuts that where spot welded to the jubilee clips had sheared off! Surprised I didn’t here it fall off.
So now I have to buy the small shield £22 again to obtain these jubilee clips with the nut on, think I’ll also put some araldite around the point it attaches to the jubilee clip. And purchase a new heatshield £50 for the ktm Oem part or £70 for a carbon one of eBay.
The supplier can’t supply the jubilee clips separately .
Don’t know if it was vibration that caused the spot welds to fail or I overnighted the screws.
