Euro trip

Postby J biker » Tue May 23, 2017 9:56 pm

6 weeks to go and counting!
Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, Germany route planned from Amsterdam ferry. Should be around 2800 miles. Cant wait. Hope to put a proper report up on how the 1290 performed and compared to the German competition (Audi owned Ducati!!).
Anyone over there 2nd week July?

Funnily enough, I'll be over there also,. 5th to 15th July,. BMW festival at Garmisch partenkirchen for the 1st weekend( I know, I know, but I won't be tempted to buy a BMW). Then over to Austria for the rest of the days,. I feel like a kid before Christmas .

Great roads, routes worked out superb. Bike behaved spot on, though only found sweet spot with suspension setting on the last day. Smooth roads = two rider for fast road use. Previously was running sport + luggage.

Will load some photos to prove been away lol.

Lucky with weather as well, only caught one serious down pour and that was at the end of a route that included Stelvio in the dry...thunder and lightning on a narrow Italian mountain pass was interesting to say the least!

I think the KTM would benefit from different rear sprocket or or an ECU reflash. 6th gear is lumpy as fcuk when speed drops a tad in motorway use.

Learned a lot on the trip though and proved that big motorway slogs are not required from Ijmuiden. 2.5 hours to top of Eifel park and let play begin 8-)
