DNA 3 Stage Mk 1/2/3 filters - Where to buy ?

Post by limeyduffa » Sat Sep 03, 2016 5:39 am

Hi All

I want to do the full airbox mod and buy a DNA 3-Stage filter. The only place I can find on the net that sells them is this link:

https://www.telematica-au.com/product/D ... r)-Stage-3

Are there others ?

Has anyone had any issues buying stuff from telematica ?

This link is for a Mk2. Kev's #10 map specifies a Mk3. Are these two versions interchangeable ?

Cheers

Telematica are the makers. They're generally reliable to buy from on an individual basis but they're somewhat bureaucratic and not that swift.
I bought mine in the UK from here:

I ordered my airbox from http://www.telematica-au.com two weeks ago. Web site said they had them in stock, which was why I went with them, as well as Gimlet's semi-assurance. I'm having problems with them. After I put in the order, the order status has sat in "Packaging" for 2 weeks. I got no emails from them during this ordering process. I sent them an email last week and got no response. I Then sent them another email 3 nights ago using a different email account and got no response. I then rang them up last night. I got a very unassuring response. They knew what I had ordered (black MK3 airbox - ok good !)... but then the operator started talking about if I wanted the orange one ???, and if I did, that would be a problem ???, but the black model they had in stock. I said, I definitely want black as per order. He said he would sent item the next day and would email me. Today, no email.

Are these guys all there ?. Is this what other people have experienced ?. Any info appreciated.

Thanks Kev.

I'm not sure if this company monitors this forum, or somebody on here tipped them off, but I got a response from the Greece branch 5 minutes after I posted my message on here. So, anyway, that's great that dialogue has started and item can be dispatched.

Look forward to getting it and using your map Kev :)

I've got the airbox. Now just have to wait for all this extreme weather to end: Take the bike in town for it's 30k major service, then I'll fit airbox.

Flooding near my place at Torrens River. This is a winter creek and normally a trickle this time of the year. Pic taken last week during 1st rounds. Much worse yesterday:

While you're fitting the airbox are you going to fit an RC8 stack to the front cylinder?

PS. The cartoon is spot on. That's exactly how wind turbines work, only over here its diesel generators that back them up.

I wasn't planning to, but you're right.. "while you're down there.." Thanks for the tip. I'll do a bit of reading in Kev's bible.

Yeah, I only discovered that when our Premier replied to a radio presenter that the wind farms don't work without the grid :)

A local question: I'm not going off road, but Adelaide gets very dusty in summer. The install instructions say the filter is preoiled, but when servicing it in dusty environs, sealing grease must be used on sealing surfaces of filter. What is this stuff ?, and would it apply for road use in WA, SA, Victoria states etc ?

Its a paste that's used to seal the upper part of the filter to the base-plate. You use it on plastic/foam filters like the Rotweiller because they're flexible plastic and the top is slotted onto the base-plate on one side and held in place with twist locks on the other. Haven't heard of it specified on pleated aluminium box filters like the DNA because the four bolts holding the top to the base ought to ensure a tight seal. I wouldn't have thought you'd need it on tarmac.
If it does get dusty you may need to service it more often than the once a year they specify under normal conditions. There is a service kit which is a cleaning solution, spray on and air-blast off I think, then some spray on filter oil (haven't done mine yet). Any cleaner and treatment oil designed for pleated cloth filters should be fine.
