Bling almost complete

Post by NWRider » Thu Apr 23, 2015 7:15 am

My SMT has been an evolving project over the last two years. I initially added some KTM Powerparts (front wheel lock, side stand plate, heated grips, crash bars and other protective bits, luggage rack). Acropovic pipes eliminated weight and heat at the back end and the re-mapped ECU makes for a smooth engine throughout the rev range. Michelin PR3s improved the handling, especially on wet roads. I recently added a Palmer windscreen and adjustable mount (still experimenting to find the best settings). Next up: finding a seat that is comfortable for more than an hour.

No center stand or hard luggage on this bike. Light is right.

Smart - this has to be the most overlooked angle of modding a bike. People will spend $$$ chasing a few HP but overlook the fact that a little wrench time junking pointless parts works just as well for overall performance. Job #1 on a new machine is gutting out all the factory flab :-)

I found the KTM gel seat worked better than stock.
For the price, reasonable, but it is not a Sargent or other custom seat.
Mods: arrow exhaust, 2nd flies removed, plugged air injection caps, JC30-80 air filter, 44T sprocket, 80w high beam, short levers, weighted bar ends, Rox risers, remapped ecu, heated grips, horn, radiator screen, crash bar, skid plate, backrest.
