GIPRO Gear Indicator for ABS bikes - X-YL+GPX U01

Post by JohnC » Mon Jan 09, 2012 4:53 pm

Hi All, newby to this and formus in general. Had a 2011 SAMT now for 4 months and really enjoing it, great bike! However I want to fit a gear indicator purchased from Healtech in Hungary and wondering if anyone has any pics on how to do this as I am useless on electronics. See advice from Healtech on what wires go where!!

The install steps:

GPX Red wire: to any switched +12V power lead (e.g. front parking light
power lead)

GPX Black wire: to any ground wire (e.g. front parking light ground wire)

GPX White wire: speed signal wire at the ABS computer module (not the ECU)
This is the speed signal output (not the wheel sensor inputs) from the
ABS computer.
To find the speed signal output wire, use a thin needle to backprobe a
connector pin
at the ABS computer module connector, then connect the GPX White wire.
Spin the wheels so the speedometer shows a non-zero speed reading.
If the correct wire is found, the GPX display will show a rolling wheel
animation.
Otherwise, test the next connector pin. It makes no harm when testing all
pins.

GPX Green wire: tachometer signal wire at the dash connector
To find the tacho signal wire, use a thin needle to backprobe a connector
pin
at the dash connector, then connect the GPX Green wire (do not disconnect
the
dash connector).
Start the engine and let it idle.
If the correct wire is found, the "L" sign on the GPX display will be
flashing
quicker and turn to "1".
Otherwise, test the next connector pin. It makes no harm when testing all
pins.

Thanks
John

its a piece of piss, honestly.

Took me 2 mins to fit the indicator.

mind you, taking the front end apart and putting it back together is a pain

Thanks for the pics but I think that the NON ABS bike had 3 wires to connect and the ABS model has 4 wires so has to fit underthe seat probably! not sure!

just noticed that......

much simpler in the non abs bike.

If you arent confident I`d suggest getting a tame autoelectrician to do it for you.

having said that, if you take your time and identify the correct wires shouldnt be an issue.

Not sure if anyone has installed this her eon the ABS bike yet.

You can find the necessary signal wires behind the dash at the multipin connector:
speed signal: GIpro white->orange/black
rpm/tacho signal: GIpro green ->white/blue
+/- supply GIpro red and black: to the ACC2 connectors

Hi all, from Spain ... sorry for my english  ... google translate help me ... :D

I have installed a gi-pro on my bike for six months ( SMT 2009 )

The gear indicator works very well.

But I cannot programming the SHIFT LIGHT.

I can see the "C" flashing and when I raise the RPM very slowly. I can see
the "U" flashing. Raise the RPM to the desired RPM, wait a second and I release the throttle.
I turn off the ignition. But when testing the SHIFT LIGHT can not get it to work.

I asked the manufacturer about the problem, but they do not know the problem

Hello Antonio,

Unfortunately, I do not have an idea what is going on.
We haven't received similar report from customers and we could not reproduce
this situation.

Kind Regards,
/Norbert

my question is, on their bikes works the SHIFT LIGHT ??? :?:

Thanks :!:

Hi all,

Sorry in advance for my english, hope as a French man it will be understandable :)
My KTM SMT 990 is a 2013' version, so that the GPX U01 seems to be the good material to be installed (and not the GPX KT1, for previous SMT versions).
I've tried to install the gipro yesterday nights but was unable to do it for a few reasons.

First I had difficulties to find the ACC1 and ACC2 connectors but I think I know where to find them now (there is a trapdoor under the meter, on the right when I sit on the bike).
However, perhaps this is possible to connect the red and black wires anywhere powered when I put the contact on ?

The major difficulty is to identify the wires to connect the white and green wires.
I red in the topic :

White wire :
speed signal wire at the ABS computer module (not the ECU)
=> could you please help me to identify what the ABS computer is ? I saw a "big group of wires" (grouped in a sheath) related to the digital part of the meter, is it that ? I can upload pictures if needed.
speed signal: GIpro white->orange/black
=> in the group of wires I've just spoken of, I saw a orange/blue wire (but not a orange black).

Green wire :
tachometer signal wire at the dash connector
=> What is a dash connector ? Google translate is not very helpful to understand this word... Isn't this wire in the same group of wires than the speed signal one ?

If some of you could (try to) explain to me more precisely where I can plug my 4 wires, that would be... so nice ! :)
Please do not hesitate to upload pictures.

Thanks to all, hope I was clear with my explanations.

haazbob.

Hey,

excuse me for digging up this old thread. Anyone actually fitted a Gipro X-type U01 model to his SMT made after 2011 (with ABS)? I`m about to buy one and I`d like to know how complicated is it to handle by myself. You know how much those KTM dealers charge for stuff like that.

Many thanks
