A chilly day out

Post by shaun-m » Thu Dec 05, 2013 8:20 am

Had a run over to Manor bikers cafe at bellerby near Leyburn yesterday. Best bikers cafe in the area! Warm welcome, good food, always bike racing on TV and best of all some great roads to get there!! After a light snack, I headed off thru Leyburn to masham (home of the black sheep brewery), Thirsk, Helmsley where I would normally head home but as the sun was still shining I headed for rosedale abbey and chimney bank. Very cold over the moors even with my winter kit on, quite breezy too. On to Castleton and turned for home, I was starting to get cold at this point and the sun was going in as well. 150 odd miles and quite a good ride apart from some blind woman in a big red estate car pulling out in front of me :o so I gave her a friendly wave and shouted a cheery greeting! glad I was paying attention and saw her starting to move so I had time to avoid her! Keep your eyes peeled guys!!

Supposed to improve after the weekend though. Or, at least, I hope it does - I'm planning a 600 mile weekend ride for the weekend after.

Route mostly driven by finding cheeky placenames on Google Maps. Penistone is a definite, Wetwang is a maybe... any other suggestions from the northern contingent?

OK, not quite that northern... It's about a hundred miles further north than I'm planning to go. 600 miles over a weekend in December is enough, 800 is just daft.

I reckon I can squeeze in Fanny Hands Lane in Lincolnshire, but Butt Hole Road was renamed Archer Way a few years ago.

Neither of which will top my visits to Fucking or Wank. I peaked too soon.

You could try and get a Wank and a Fucking in before Anus, that would be a special day out

In France to save you looking, just south of Auxerre.
This is what I do with mine....
