Share some stories about your IBA rides. I’ve done a few with another bike but hope to do a 1000miler later this year with my SDR

I'm hoping to attempt it next year on my 990 SMT. It's always been kind of a bucket list thing to do for me.

Will do. I am already planning a long trip with some friends for NEXT year (we have two between now and then to do this year)... I want to go from home (chicago) to new england (up into maine) and back.

The route I want to do is too long to do in a week with a group, but I could easily do it solo (I will gladly do 2x the mileage per day as they will). I need to do it in a week, because of my PTO for work - my friends have more time to spare. SO, if i were alone, i'd blast 7-800 miles to get at least eastern PA the first day so I can use MOST of my time in New England and not have to spend 4.5 of my 7 days crawling through the midwest. There is no way the group can/will do 7-800 miles on the start/finish of that trip. Just nope.

SO, I had the idea that they could leave 2 days ahead of me (covering 300-350ish miles a day as per usual), and day 3 I would do basically an iron-butt to catch up with them that night - 900-1000ish miles for me, another 350 for them, and THEN we cruise and explore at a slow pace for a few days up there, and at the tail end, I blast a long stretch home again (maybe not 1000 miles in a day, but 700+ to "bank" another day on the trip.

Seems like a good opportunity to try the Iron Butt. The vast majority of it would be across Indiana, Ohio and Pennsylvania. Not the BEST place to do it, but it could be much worse. Plus, it would give me a better goal in the adventure to meet up at the end with my crew, instead of just pointing west from Illinois and stopping somewhere in like Kansas or something. That sounds dreadful. Ha ha.
