Wings noise vs. stock

Post by Trottllebody » Sat Feb 11, 2017 12:14 pm

Hi all!
Picked up my Wings last week an took a little decibel test.
Used "Modern decibel" app on my phone, how exakt it is i dont know but anyway:
Tested from about 20cm to 1 meter away without any difference.
Stock mufflers are 88db at 4500rpm
Wings without db killers: 80db
large db killers: 75db
small: suprisingly 80db
Pretty impressive i think from a open pipe :)

ITG filter
SAS, O2, and flies away
Wings
Greetings from Norway, still -5 celsius and a bit snow :(

Hehe, decibel goes up between large to small dbkiller but it should go the other way :)
If the measuring is right it may be a peak somwhere
in the frequencyrange that the ear don`t perceives.
But my point was that the stock muffler is louder than the Wings. It was a suprise for me.
A bit out of theme on this forum but as i have audio and speakerbuilding as a hobby
i think its fun with some testing.

I don`t know which weighting "Modern decibel" app is using,
but A is the most common and does not give true values of course.
I should have measured stock muffler with the same app before i switched to the Wings,
then it maybe could give a pinpoint to the difference between them. My bad :)

My Wings were much louder than my STD cans.
