Post by eric » Fri Dec 11, 2015 3:26 pm

Hi guys,
i'm really dying to buy an exhaust. but the exchange rate is killing.
Does anyone know about this brand?

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Auspuff-Endtopf ... uW&vxp=mtr

I've seen some videos on youtube but for other bikes. Their price is right up my alley :D

I had one on my Ttr, it was very well made and sounded ace. A famous speedway chap owns the company I think, can't remember his name. Mufflers on speedway bikes are crucial to performance so I'd say they were probably a good buy..

Hi all

The Dominator HP1 silencers arrowed on Wednesday this week. They look great in my holy opinion 8-)
They are light weight, carbon ends, and came with dB-killers mounted (one has to order dB-killers seperatly when order by e-mail).

Happy, with a smile on my face I had a closer look at the Dominator´s.

First
The 3 x M8 threaded holes in the silencers, where the M8 screws should be attached into the silencers, are poor made! For one silencer there is no big issue, but the other one... Have a look at the photo.
IMG_2244.jpg
I as soon as possible asked them about this and they replied as follows; "Try to mount them and if there is a problem send photos".
I tried to mount them and it is "possible" to mount them although it is far from easy/good.

Second
Original there is a gasket in the silencer, between the manifold/pipe and the silencer. It´s not possible to mount the gasket since the groove is too shallow. See photo.
No space for gasket.jpg
Third
When mounting the silencers up straight, as seen on the photo, it´s impossible to use the stainless steel band that comes with (similar to the original ones) because they do not aling to the original mount (the hole with rubber thing inside) in the side case holder unit (though not mounted).
IMG_2249.jpg
Also, the mounting "ear" of the stainless steel band are too long!

I have asked Dominator about these issues and waiting for a reply. Really hope they will come up with a good solution!

Disappointing news, they realy look awesome.
I whould send them back since you don't know how is the build quality inside, loss matrial can be sucked back to the motor on deceleration and cause seriouse damage.

In extreme cases where the exsaust is literally falling apart inside.

Not saying this what will happen but what you wrote makes me doubt their quality.

5 year guarantee.

I'm interested to see what they come back with as my wife would love me to find some cheaper exhausts (she doesn't see the point in replacing oem). I've got my eye on some nice little titanium and carbon capped beauties [WINKING FACE]

If something seems to good to be true, it usually is. You generally get what you pay for. You might get less but you almost never get more.
You'd need to get a lot more than you paid for a pair of cans costing £100 each to be fit to use on a bike, IMO. I'd send them back and dig a bit deeper for something tried and tested.

Yes... you are right :(

Well, the Dominator´s costs €400 so I expect them to be a little bit more "ready to bolt on".
Then there is always the thing about "the look"! I really really like the look of the Dominator HP1 - it suits the bike perfectly in my opinion.

Let´s see what happens next.

IMG_2301.jpg
It really IS beautiful! The shape of the Dominator silencers fits the SMT excellent in my opinion.

IMG_2300.jpg
Not perfect, as the plastic touches the mounting bolt head a bit. Can live with that.

IMG_2299.jpg
IMG_2298.jpg
Looks cruel without the passanger rails and the plate for topbox dismounted! Also no wind shield. Yet.

IMG_2297.jpg
Need to use a "pipe" or similar between the "ear" and the subframe. And, of course, replace to a shorter bolt!

IMG_2296.jpg
Took off the side case racks and used one of the bolt holes in the subframe to mount a long "in-six-head" bolt into.
The mounting is still not perfect, as I was a bit stressed to get it done for today.
But the weather this morning was not too good so I decided to not take the bike out for a ride. But after rain comes sun :-)

Maybe tomorrow 8-)

Hi "Roobi931"

Sorry, I just can´t recommend the Dominator´s silencers... It REALLY is too loud sound/noice level. I used an app to the mobile phone to measure sound levels, and it said 94 dB(A) at idle speed and more than 103 dB(A) at 4500 rpm.
The dB-killers that is included, does Not make the sound noticeably lower. 100 dB(A) at 4500 rpm.
The sound is great, if one likes noice, but just way to loud!
I´m desperatly trying to modufy the silencers to get the sound level down.

I would try the Wings if I were you.

OH, i very like too lound sound :)) but i want to ask: i found 2 version of dominator. The first one is "Dominator round", and the second one is "Dominator HP1"(same as yours). The difference in the price about 200$, but all the characteristics are the same. Do you know the difference? I have added the photo

PS. Did you buy just pipes ?

Hi

The round one is a little bit longer (40 cm) compared to HP1 (335 cm) and also heavier and cost €220, and the HP1 cost €406.
And of course; the HP1 is MUCH more beautiful than the long round one... :)

I bought the silencers, nothing else. No pipes/tubes/manifold.

I have sent you a PM (personal message)!
