Akrapovics fitting and map.

Post by nomadic » Mon Jun 17, 2013 1:41 pm

Hi all,
Picked up some Akra's last week and going to get around to fitting them this weekend - couple of buggin questions!
Which map do I need from the Map List?
Do I need to get a new gasket for the Akra y-piece?
Is there a guide some where here? I have searched but not to much avail!
Cheers
:D

Just had to look a little harder!

Any information about gaskets would be great - if there are any?!

Just doing the 15 min idle now - working well!

Snapped off one of the luggage mounts trying to give a little more clearance between that and the exhaust!!! Opps - ebay or remove them...

Question - how do you mount the exhausts if you remove the luggage mount. Pic to follow!

I did the same

I just cut the loops off and re-used the main mounting parts of the luggage mounts :)

Glad I am not the only one! Good idea on just cutting them off!

The exhaust really has made a difference, pick up is smoother and there is definately more mid range. Good sound too! Next stop - remove baffles! ;)

Just the standard Akrapovic map : #4 IIRC.

Read conflicting advice about turning off the O2 sensor - so will leave that. Looking at the airbox change next.

That is one super smooth map :D

Not sure on fuel economy though but when comparing fuel tables vs #9 map theres not much difference, me being a muppet had one run on it all day and the fuel light came on at 105 miles, i then discovered that id left one of the fuel taps closed after removing the secondaries
I reckon i could get about 125 with the akra map so im gonna load that back on myself

Now that you have removed the cats I would suggest turning off and removing the SAS as this will eliminate the popping on decelaration.

Thanks for the tip - I have the blanking plates and stuff - is it worth just turning off - or best to remove - haven't noticed any popping...obviously not going hard enough! :D

I would turn off via TuneECU and then remove. Might as well save some extra weight while you are at it.

Also turning off without removing will still allow cool air into the exhaust, so popping will continue. Maybe slightly less.

Congrats on the new exhausts. After 6 weeks of back and forth I finally received shipping confirmation that my Akrapovic exhaust is enroute and should arrive this coming Thursday. Can't wait to get them mounted up.

I used #4 - Akra map.
I had a dyno run today with the akra map but ive removed secondary flies, its was fuelling very rich at 5% and 100% throttle and ive gone from 114bhp down to 105bhp but everywhere else it was an improvement over #9 map, i'll be tweaking this map now to get it better.

The dyno guy did say he hasn't used tuneecu and offered some heavily discounted dyno time for us both to work on the map to get it spot on
Of course that'll have to wait until i get back from my Euro trip :D

#19 might be worth a shot...only a filter rather than a whole airbox - could be a closer match..
