Sollution for absence E approval on Wings?

Post by Tonny » Wed Apr 25, 2012 4:51 pm

Does anybody here have a sollution for the E approval the Wings exhausts do not have?

I was stopped last weekend by the German police and they threatened to forfeit my Wings exhausts because they do nog have E approval
I had the sillent db killers inside and after hearing the sound he changed his mind
But he kept on repeating according to the law he had to take them off my bike

Has anybody added the E approval afterwards to a Titanium exhaust?

The guys at BSD Performance said they were a good quality can, so I think they're well worth the money. They look at sound great, here's mine:-

Mine arrived yesterday and having one side so far the fit and finish is exceptional. I ordered without badges for a oem look. Looking forward to firing her up later. Nice touch from Gozrad to include stickers and a free t shirt. Delivery was a total of 2 weeks and because of the euro exchange rate in the uk good value.

Could you confirm the total price you paid for the cans inc postage etc and what type you got. New to the SMT and like the idea of a nice sound track, are these similar to JC Exhausts??
Thanks Chris

I was also looking for some Leo Vince slip ons for my new SMT, but they said they do not make them right now.
Apparently there was a fit problem.

Mine were the NOS with carbon end cap and delivered they were £521.00. was considering the JC Exhausts but as the exchange is pretty good in the UK thought the £80.00 premium worth it.

Have installed and took for a run yesterday - they sound good even with Db killers fitted.

How was the fit? Did everything line up? Does it use the stock mounting hardware?
Did you keep the heat shields?

Everything lined up no problems. The only issue is fitting the right handside can as the OEM pipework is very tight. If you cut down a 5mm allen key it will be fine.
All in all very impressed. Top quality kit.

New to forum. I hope you can help. I have a 2012 SM T. I installed Wings( NOS Carbon end ). I want to not use pannier hangers. I read the posts on tis forum for the parts needed. I have the parts, but here is the problem. The silencer holder/handle fro KTM will install fine, but the band for the exhaust from Wings does not install without twisting exhaust(no way) or contorting the band which is unsightly. I think I need a band clamp from Wings for a SMC or R. Have any other owners had this problem and am I correct in my solution. By the way, I got the part numbers from another post on this forum and the dealer said they are correct. I am also installing short heat shields like the SM. Thanks for you help.

That is strange, as I just installed the same ones on my 2011 last week and the bands fit fine. it was a tight fit and took some squeezing to close the hanger, but it worked fine.

I left all the stock parts in place (pannier hangers and heat shield).

I am leaving neither the heat shield or hanger. Silencer hanger from SM as I want to use short heat shield. The band from Wings for SMT does not line up with this hanger for a SM.

Well I have just joined the merry band and have ordered a set of wings, prior to BSD sorting out the ECU.

Ducdr have you contacted Wings on the fitting query? I'm going to order the parts for the SM shortie shields and wanted to know in advance.

Cheers,

Andy

I had a hard time getting the bolt through the bands on mine as well. Thought maybe I had the wrong parts. I ended up using an allen wrench driver in an electric screwgun so it would turn as I pushed it all together. The threads eventually caught and tightened up nice.

Zimm, yes know what you mean - I even had to let the missus in the garage to hold the frame whilst tightening the bolt!

Just to clarify you are talking about the SM option removal of the pannier rails and fitting the replacement parts listed elsewhere in the forum?

If you want to get rid of the pannier hangers with the Wings cans (NOS) you need a different exhaust band to fit he new silencer holder. You can purchase through the Wings website.
