ITG intake noise

Postby Mieju1 » Mon Jun 05, 2017 6:11 pm

Hi,
I installed the itg intake kit and as such it works as expected, but the frog like barking sound at around 3500 rpm is some what annoying... not much, but a bit. Has anyone done anything to make it less loud? Both below and above 3500 rpm it sounds great even with full throtle. Highly recommend it. I also removed 2nd flies and uploaded one of the tuneecu maps, but I suppose those make little difference to sound. Any thoughts?

I get a little tambourine noise at that rpm but it all adds to the magnificent noise that is the intake.

It's a price you pay for awesomeness

It sounds weird at the beginning but after a while it is actually quite cool and you want to hear it often.

Sound changes depending what oil you use. I oiled the Rotweiller on mine with No Toil. Then tried changing to Motorex after a service. It sounded very harsh and metallic so I went back to No Toil. Much smoother sound. No Toil clings to the filter better too. The Motorex disappeared after a few hundred miles.

Thanks for input. I used Twin Air bio power spray for the filter. Seems to work fine, with the exception of that slightly too loud and high pitch "tamburine" noise at around 3500 rpm...makes the bike sound like a lawnmower  Need to next try another oil. On the upside I believe the engine is now running better. I did notice that the crank breather hose was dripping some oil to the front intake...and now since I redirected that to a minifilter, it naturally does not happen anymore. Or maybe it's just the effect of getting more air...dunno.

Hi, try adding 1 or 2% more fuel. Generally, the maps seem to run slightly weak on UK fuel which makes intake noise louder

Difficult to believe that spray quality has any effect. Maybe Rottweiler has better sound due to nicer color. More power = Noice.
