TechSpec Tank Grippers- Edition #1

Post by GaryCulb » Fri Jan 19, 2018 8:46 pm

Have been working with the guys at TechSpec ( http://techspec-usa.com ) to make some Tank Grips for the KTM SDGT. Here is their Edition #1. Do not know about the Snoopy Nose?? Sent some patterns & still trying to get them do the center area of the tank.

Let me know what you think & what modifications you would request.

Best,

Doc :? :?

I too tried to get Tech Spec to make some pads for SDGT...they told me they weren't interested. I applaud your better efforts. Seems like the center rear area of tank is pretty important... it's where belt buckle or jacket buckle hits. I didn't have any luck viewing the SDGT prototype with your link...probably my smartphone. Anyhow, I like Tech Spec products, and will likely buy snake skins for my SDGT if they ever become available...assuming they cover the rear of the tank.

Sure would like to see a pic of their edition 1, though.

Pictures should be visable as part of my post?? Here is another link.

I am experiencing the same thing with the center of my KTM SDGT tank. Seems like I brace against it allot. Best,

Looks good, I must admit I do like how it has the same detail as the plastics...

I’ve just ordered these ones....https://www.tripledmotosport.co.uk/prod ... 0-gt-16-17

Love it! All we need to add is one more piece, for the rear of the tank. Then I'll place my order. Wonder if they could not use the same rear tank piece as used for SDR? Are our tanks that different? On sides, yes...but on rear? Looks like it ought to work.

The TecSpec Snake product is very rigid and does poorly on a concave surface. Even if heat treated it can can peel up. The center area of the KTN SDGT may require 3 pieces?

The OEM tank grip product is made to fit. I did not find it as good as the TechSpec product. Enjoy stabilizing in the turn by gripping with my knee(s). Do not need as much as the Snake just something to reliably brace against.

Best,

Doc :) :)
