Ordered CustomLED tail light

Post by RDKLL » Fri Feb 03, 2017 2:12 am

Emailed Jon at Customled.com todays asking for a 2017 Super Duke GT and he said they did not have one yet but he believes that the SDR piece will fit. Offered to take it back with paid shipping of it does not fit...so my SDGT and I will be a guinea pig

When I ordered it initially I was told I was the guinea pig for GT's I got it and it biolted right up but there was a flange on the bottom of the oe light that was not on the new light and I let him know and was advised that they were making some changes. I got an email that they had one but I needed to ship mine back first...so I did and then had my accident. I was asked to send my new light to a guy in CA to test fit and I guess it fit good. I have not installed it on my bike yet becuase it has been at the dealer for over 2 months getting accident damage fixed

Okay, so would you recommend it? did it look oem? They dont offer a smoked version if it, how does the clear looks on there?

does it have a licence plate light on the bottom so I could stick my plate there without a proper tail tidy apparatus?

I find the unit to be quite expensive, and seems to be the only availlaible option as to integrated signals tail light. I guess the other companies making them for other bikes are going to start making them someday...

I used one on my Sdr while waiting for a warranty replacement of the stock one.
It's a 98% match in shape to stock. The non smoked top looks a little funky to me but that's personal preference.
The brightness and adjustable flash is very bright and I like it a lot.
I plastidipped mine to cover the clear top and it looked ok. My bike had a rear lamp error code with the custom led. His site states that a very small percent of. Sdr bikes get the error code and he includes resistors to fix it.
I'm back using stock light but may experiment with it again in the future and I do not regret buying it.

Mine kicked the code as well, he sent me resistors that seemed a bit bulky but worked. My new one did not come with them (I will get free ones if I need them) very bright, and programmable...I had mine set to 10x burst and then solid...will be mounting it again as soon as I get the bike back because the rear of the bike looks amazing with the removal of the stock signals

I am still digging mine, I also got the controller as well and have it set for 10x flash and then solid...at a light I will release and reapply the brake to start it over...if they cant see that then they have some really much bigger issues

I received my CustomLED integrated taillight yesterday and installed it.
Installation is straightforward -
seat off
toolkit out
unplug both connectors
unscrew license plate holder assembly and remove
(i missed this initially - disassemble entire tail unit to release the single indicator connectors - these go to the
two small plugs from the unit)
remove flanks and exchange taillights
feed wires through, connect and turn ignition on - all tests ok :)

Guys,
I went from the dealer's today, my GT arrived, and the tail light is black...
What color is your stock headlight? I thought it was transparent

CustomLED is a great option. Brighter, stronger and programable so that EVERYONE behind you is altered to your braking and turning intentions. Also, 1/2 the price of an OEM which are junk IMO.
