1290 gt mods so far

Post by pk1 » Fri Jun 07, 2019 10:13 am

Was on the other ktm forum and responded to a post made me think, who’s done the most mods?
My list so far!
Said I wouldn’t mod this bike after my last one 😂but so far I’ve been unable to resist but it’s now an absolute weapon.
Tinted screen
Tinted headlight cover
Heated seats
Evotech rad guard
R&g tail tidy
Rottweiler canister and sas delete kit
Sprint po8 filter and booster plug
Akropovic end can
Remus de cat
Healtech esa dongle
Carbon heat shield
Carbon tank insert
Gel fuel cap sticker
Sw motech Kobra hand guards and flashers
2019 suspension upgrade
Fender extender front and back
Sat nav bracket
Tank grip set
1 tooth smaller front sprocket
Full luggage and back rack
Never realised how much I’d spent until I just listed it😂😂😂

When I purchased my 2017 KTM SDGT the KTM Dealer installed all the accessories for FREE as part of the purchase. Also, got 20% off all accessories if I purchased them from them. Yep, love to “Farkle- Fancy Accessory, Real Kool, Likely Expensive.”

The OEM headlight on the 2017 KTM SDGT performs poorly in the dark. Cyclops used to make an H7 LED to replace the headlight bulb.

HHC is a waste. It only comes on when you are on a significant uphill incline and lasts for 5 seconds ( https://www.ktmforums.com/forums/super- ... ntrol.html ).

MSR is OK ( https://www.ktmforums.com/forums/super- ... ation.html ). Often the changes riders note make them turn it off?

Best,

Doc :D :D

Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha. Been riding my 790 heaps lately so decided to take the 1290 out yesterday. Power to corrupt, but man the first tight corner i threw it into, it felt like a tank in comparison to the 790. Gotta say the 790 is amazing fun, and a perfect stable mate for the tank, opps i mean 1290 :D

Doc,

can you give a description of how you wired the horn? i'd like to put on a horn/s, but i've not owned a bike with a canbus system and am reluctant to screw with it until i hear what the proper wiring procedure is.

Here is a link that should be of assistance: https://www.ktmforums.com/forums/super- ... -sdgt.html . To prevent a canbus error one needs to leave the OEM horn on the bike. The aftermarket horn should be connected in parallel to the OEM horn. When you press the OEM horn button both will sound or go off. I moved my OEM horn away from the radiator since, others had issues with it failing in that location. Others have put the OEM horn under the gas tank. Best,

Doc :) :)

Cool cheers Davey, I've got to return to the bike shop (220kms) away to get it done, we have a local KTM dealer but they haven't ad the franchise long, so will return to Hamilton and get it done there. They have the primo KTM mechanics in NZ. and sell tires at brilliant prices, I'm also going to order a set of tire warmers.
