Decat

Anyone done one on a GT yet? Not quite the same as the 1290r as there is a exhaust valve motor to contend with? Once done and you do an intake, then what? Is there a Akra map for extra fueling or will one have to use a PVC?

Guess the bike is still to new? Here is some reading on motorcycle exhaust valves.

I too would love to know if this Servo Buddy works on the GT. I'm currently getting MTC Failure on my GT and I suspect its a bad exhaust servo motor causing the problem. Don't want to keep replacing these things. I would rather just bypass the whole system all together.

Any word on a bypass system, so you can remove the exhaust valve servo motor, I've fitted the little cam lock that came with the remus link pipe, but it still shows up a code failure, I've tried it in a few positions, and no luck, I'm guessing the motor has crapped out and showing a failure. Dam, i didn't want to have to buy that part.

Apparently most new bikes are going to have exhaust valves (euro4). When I installed mine I did get a MTC failure. When you undo the nut that holds the pulley on the servo you can force the servo to full open. On startup the valve goes from open to close then back to open to prove function, by forcing it anywhere but open can cause a MTC failure. After I got my first MTC failure on install I took apart the servo and spun it completely the other way(open). Works like a charm. Love the sound of that pipe.

Thanx for your reply Vetair, I've tried the little cam in all positions, and still get the fault code, when i crashed the bike the valve in the exhaust got ground down where it passes out the side of the pipe, so the valve may have been jamed in the open position as the revs i crashed at would have meant it was open. the servo does operate it moves both ways, I've tried it in the valve open position, so it moves to close the valve then open, I'm picking it got damaged in the crash, but it still operates. I'm hoping something comes out soon for removal of the servo motor, i don't want to pay for one when its not needed.

I am waiting for KTM to come out with an offroad fueling map, since I have a Motoholigan intake and Remus decat. I can only hope included with it is a servo delete much in the way that the Akro map for the 1290r deleted the SAS error when SAS removed.

Ive held back on getting an airbox upgrade until theres new mapping for the 1290GT, with the Remus pipe and link pipe I'm thinking it may run a little leaner, but with a more open airbox, it may even run much more leaner. I hope they get their arse into gear and put out open pipe mapping and a dongle for the servo. fuk my cast will be off in 2 weeks, and hopefully all the parts for the bike will have arrived then too.

Any word on exhaust servo dongle?

I fitted the little cam on the exhaust servo, that came with the remus link pipe, and the first few times i turned the ignition on, i got the FAIL sign, i fiddled with its position, and now i have the tank and all the electrial parts fitted back on the bike, I've started it up a few times, and ridden it around the house a few times (was still in a cast then) and still no error Fail. so looking like I've got it sorted in the short term. I have had the cast off this week, and been working hard on getting the wrist strong enough to go for a ride today. But after a beautiful fine week, today at 10 am, drizzle set in. FUK ME.

I can't at this stage Steve, i would have to pull the servo off the bike, which is abit time consuming, but i put the servo in the position where the the cable cam held the valve open, then removed the cable cam, and fitted this cam that comes with the remus link pipe. It has lugs on it that only let the servo turn so far in each direction, mimicing the exhaust parameters. Hope this helps steve. I think Vetair has posted some photos, may be here, or in the superduke.net. Forum.

Here is the valve with the Remus part installed. Beware when you loosen the bolt when removing the original pulley as it will position the servo in the wrong position and cause MTC failure.

Very interesting. A mechanical version of dongle.

The exhaust valve throws an MTC error code when not functioning

Could the GT could be using that exhaust valve as part of what it does to slow down the bike for the MTC/wheelie control? Could the valve close as the ECU detects wheel slippage? I know its not likely, but there has to be a chance that is uses this.

I ride with the MTC on, I like the safety feature :). The link pipe is on order...but Im wondering if removing the exhaust valve will remove some of the ability of the mtc..what do you guys think?

I have had the Remus pipe installed for a 2000 Km. I didn't notice any issues with MTC not working. As normal, you barely know it is there.

No prob on mine either, 2500Ks now, the exhaust valve is solely for noise reduction, and partly helps the Cat heat up also. But noise reduction, at a measured 5500 revs i think. it opens after that
