MiVV Suono

Post by Aussie Dave » Fri Jan 24, 2020 7:11 am

G'day,

Got itchy feet on Xmas eve and bought an MiVV Suono muffler...... then decided I should also order a de-cat mid pipe and SAS removal kit..... never thought I'd ever mod the GT as it worked so well in stock trim - but there you go..... never say never  .

Got my Suono delivered from Italy on the 20th Jan and the mid pipe is due 27th..... SAS kit came from Greece in today's post...... the Booster Plug module I thought I'd try came in 3 days from Denmark...... now all I have to do is get enthusiastic and drain the tank and get down and dirty with my SDGT.......

One small deterrent to getting dirty hands was the link tube for the muffler to cat. It was too small to fit the cat/exup tube, so I couldn't "slip the slip-on" muffler on... ..... damn..... but MiVV are sending me a correct part 'asap' so I must wait some more before I can comment on the sound.......

Looks nice..... really well made too...... just a shame the link tube was the wrong one for the GT....

I plan to test it with the standard cat then try it with the Booster Plug module, then de-cat mid pipe with SAS removal kit (and Booster plug module for low rpm/idle AFR protection). I might like it with the stock cat and no dBkiller, but if I change my mind, I'll have the bits on the shelf to play some more..... ;) - and if it doesn't work properly, I can ask my cousin to download the Accra map at the up and coming 30k km major service (if he thinks it's needed) - he is now a full time KTM tech and will rapidly soak up all the inside tech for SDGT's :D .

Oh well, it's too hot & humid to wear a helmet, so I can wait a bit longer.....

At last, the de-cat pipe is in delivery status, and the replacement adaptor tube landed in Sydney yesterday....... prob be delivered Monday as it takes 2 days for stuff to get from Sydney-Brisbane-me ....

At least I got a ride in on Wednesday with my Booster Plug installed, before the de-cat/muffler change. That went well...... performed as claimed, smoother gear changes, plenty of go when asked. With the lower gearing my GT was fine anyway, but after 3 yrs I wanted a change, and the parts I bought cost less than one Akrapovic muffler anyway, so pretty good value.

Beauty..... the correct adaptor tube arrived on Friday and is a relaxed 60mm ID, so it's gonna fit the cat stub!

I'd have 'slipped the slip-on' on there and then, but i got dehydrated on last Wednesday's ride in 38C (100F) heat and succumbed to a urinary tract infection (even though we all drink water with our coffee's and I carry a water bottle on the GT)....... so I felt like crap for the last few days. The medication is taking effect now and I'm thinking I will fit the Suono this afternoon - a bit of a saga, but the MiVV factory did a good job with fast freight to me.

The de-cat link pipe is expected on Monday/Tuesday, so I'll have all the bits ready for when I decide to do the de-cat.

Bloody slow getting stuff out of Italy...... and I thought we had snail mail here  .

Right, jobs done now...... still waiting for the de-cat pipe, but I might not go that far as the slip-on has given the GT a beautiful note - not too loud, just nice, but stronger than stock!
Carbon Fibre with 55mm main tube vs oem mufflers 60 main and 42 dB restrictor. So it's got more of a V2 note but not anti social..jpg

It sounds nice with dB killer out, and is not stupid loud due it's longer length than stock..jpg

PS...... the de-cat link pipe arrived at long last....... sure is purdy........ doesn't have the ugly weld marks that appear on the MiVV web pic....... and has nice flowing curves (no sharp bends/tight twists and turns like others)...... will be a while before I fit it as I want to test how the Suono sounds/goes with the standard cat.

Comes with a little cam that replaces the ex-up cables and stops error codes if not fitting an ESE module.

Hi Dave
I know this is an old post but by now you may have fitted the decat pipe. How is it with the Mivv suono. I am about to get one. I have the boddis decat pipe with rapid bike fuel module fitted on a 2018 GT
