Side stand foot pad

Post by Clogan » Sun Apr 22, 2018 9:59 pm

Looking for a bolt-on pad to help prevent the side stand foot from sinking into hot asphalt this summer. Lots of cheap stuff for under $10 bucks from China for the KTM Adventure bikes, and all the bikes up to 990...but nothing for the 1290 Super Dukes. I'm not ready to pay $70 bucks for the SW Motech piece.

Are the side stand foot pads really that different for a 1290 Adventure ($6.99 from China), versus our Super Dukes ($69.95 from SW Motech)?

Wonder if the Adventure pad could be adapted to the SD?

Anybody got a recommendation?

I got a side stand foot off eBay made China, delivered to NZ for about $25 from memory, quality ok, but need some grunty thread lock
2016 1290GT-remus link and muffler, 2010 Black 1200 Multistrada full Termi system with mapping, 2005 SMR 640, full Titanium system, Mikuni flatside racing carb, 2 sets of wheels, 18 litre tank, and a nice soft seat.

Purely for the name because they are not cheap, being powder coated stainless steel...

Looks like a great product. Alas, they do not offer one for for the SDR or SDGT...adventure models only.

It is curious that foot pads for <$10 can be had for every KTM bike made...EXCEPT the super dukes. Wonder why that is? Could it be that little spur thing (the one that keeps breaking off)?

Need a pad for your super adventure? Not a problem! Take your pick from lots of vendors. $9.95, and free shipping!

Need a pad for your super duke? Well, that means SW Motech, for $66.95, plus shipping!

Sheesh!
That empty beer can suggestion is sounding pretty hood! Just JB Weld it to the bottom of the side stand, and call it done!
