Does anyone have MSR? How do you like it?

Post by Kool1290GT » Wed Nov 08, 2017 1:16 am

The back end was rather slippy here and there my first season. Throttle on, I dont mind so much but downshifting into a corner was a little unnerving happened 2-3x over the season. I guess my blip/rpm could be a little off those 2-3x causing the rear to lock up a bit, not the bikes fault. Has anyone experienced the MSR feature? Is there any downsides?

Thinking of dealer turning it on for next season safety.

I also wondered bout MSR but the slipper clutch does work pretty good. I've only got the downshifting squirms on the same excessively bumpy/ripply and patchy slight bend before a curve. I've just adjusted my downshifting and braking slightly on this curve and it cleaned right up.

I’ve considered having the MSR activated, but have mixed feelings about it. On one hand it’s a safety net like ABS, but is it really needed if one just learns to have more finesse with the throttle (as with the brakes)? I’d like to know that once it’s activated can I turn it off if I desire?

I'd also be interested in opinions on this £120 option.
£120 seems steep for just a software upgrade, I presume there's a 'black box' to install?

I too am wondering what is involved in adding MSR. I have a 2016 model, and find no referenve to MSR in any menus.

So I just picked up my 2016 yesterday. I did have the MSR software upgrade programmed in. They charged 0.5 hrs labor in addition to the cost of the software. I rode home 4 hours on the interstate and tried to downshift aggressively when slowing down. I don’t know if it was the slipper clutch or the MSR, but the downshifts were pretty smooth. I tried at times to not blip when downshifting to test the MSR and it seemed to work fairly smoothly. But I’ve only had the bike for less than 24 hrs, so I can’t say I completely endorse it yet.
