Center Stand

Post by luismna » Fri May 26, 2017 8:52 am

Hi Guys,

What solutions do you use to oil the chain during big trips?

A centerstand for this bike is something that i miss. In my previous bike (Kawasaki Z1000 sx) I had a snapjack that I used during long trips, but it does not fit our SDGT.

Suggestions, solutions???

I ride solo majority of the time, so no mate to help me...

Little spray can of wax-oil under the seat (charcoal canister removed) i spray visible chain, role bike forward-spray-role forward-spray etc etc. it works on trips, i use a wax spay on trips, so every 1000Ks or so. then when i get home i clean that wax crap off, and stick to a fine oil every ride.(lasts 250 + ks)

Haha......I've been using a brush on Motul chain grease and I'm impressed :D

I was considering a Tutoro chain oiler, but that would have required a bit of effort to fit and fine tune for the GT's big thick swingarm.....and of course being a single sided S/Arm I couldn't use a cheap prop stand to lift the wheel up enough to spin by hand and use my aerosol chain lube...... Luckily I was offered the tube of Motul chain grease, and it works so well I can't be bothered to chase any other systems.

It looks like a big toothpaste tube and has a brush on the big end - so you just errrr, brush it on the exposed bits and with only a few pushes, you have covered enough rollers to spread the grease - for day rides I use my paddock stand at home and non-wax chain lube (I tried the non-fling wax stuff years ago and it was crap, and it was hard to clean off the rim  , and it didn't last long on the chain). :x

I'm very happy to recommend "Motul brush-on chain grease".
