KTM 1290 Super Duke GT 2018 ???

Post by jrc58 » Fri Apr 14, 2017 5:52 pm

The Adventure and the Super Duke had changes.
Surely the Super Duke GT 2018 will be different.

Does anyone know of news in the 2018 model ???

Likely will not see any major changes to the GT until 2019. KTM seems to be on a 3 year model cycle.

Welll....depending on what the insurance man says...I might be looking for a replacement of my '17 GT with 3491 miles on the clock
...was hoping for cruise to be on the left grip...oh and the new display and the quickshifter too

Dave here's a pic...hit & run...I have a broken collarbone. T accident happened in fron of a motorcycle dealer that have actually worked on mine about 2k miles ago...they have another location in Scottsdale that is a KTM dealer and it will be getting trailered there on Tue. Serious swing arm rash, tore up left side of the fairing, both bags ripped off...I am hoping that it gets written off, and that I can get any undamaged accessories off so I can put on my new one

OH fuck, I'm gutted for you RDKLL, man theres some fuckers out there, hope they write it off for ya buddy, i had an off on mine, all my own fault, and it cost me around $4000 but i put a few extras on, they just came a little sooner than anticipated. i was lucky, never hit anything solid, the bike lowsided, landed on me (cushioned the fall) and slid on the exhaust pipe handle bars tank and clutch cover 45meters up the hill, Hows the shoulder now, hope it heals well for you, they can take ages to come right. Took this pic 2 weeks after binning it, my shoulder and back had wicked bruises also, That tarseals hard eh.

Hope it works out for you.......but as far as a GT upgrade TFT dash.......top secret........maybe consider the 1290SA-Sports.......it's got the lot, up & down QS, TFT dash, centre stand and better looking side cases than the 1190 ones.......not a Gt, but still has 'That Motor'....... ;)

Shit!!....what an asshole! At least you're not beat up too bad.
There's something really disconcerting about looking at the same bike as your own, all bust up.
Hope you get sorted soon.

Too bad about your accident. Hit and run is low. Probably no license or insurance. I'm glad your not to banged up. I had a similar incident last year. The adjuster wouldn't total it. But the bill did hit 8 grand and it took 5 months to get a swingarm.

Terrible! I hope you heal quickly and get the settlement you want from the insurance company. It amazes me how someone could miss seeing such a conspicuous bike but it happens.

What a couple of low-life's to run off after accidents they caused! Was your bike off the road for 5-months or was that just the amount of time they took to replace he swingarm?

All I want in the 2018...if mine is written-off.
Cruise control on the left grip
Key fob and push button start
led headlight...or not

It happened in December so I was done for the year anyway, but swingarms were back ordered and it took 5 months for Ktm to send one to my dealer. All good now and the bike feels fine. These things can take a hit.

I stopped by the dealer on the way home from the doc (will have surgery on 4/24, no riding for 3 months). Anyway, they have not started the comprehensive review for damage, but what he did see made him say the it will be close to a write-off...he said that wrecks like mine are easy because the bike is so new...if it has a scratch, it gets replaced...fingers crossed for a write-off. Even if it is a total, I am pretty sure I would not want to wait on an '18...US guys have not even got their '17 SDR's yet...

Gt will have full change on 2018 as i think they can sell the GT anymore, all the dealers i visit sit on a 3-4 Gt stock cant get rid of them.
I think there are alot of them in Ktm head quarters and because they cant sell them i think they will have the update on them too.

The GT is already euro 4 so i dont think it will get too many internal changes , it will get auto blipper better suspension, may have another side panels and head light will be change also , cruise control and the dash will change. 2018 will be EU and 2019 will be America .

i wonder what happens to the bikes not sold? do they send them back to the factory :)

Tan, thanks for the update on the 2018! Can you post a link to where you "heard" that? And also for clarifying that you will not be getting a new KTM...it is possible that some may have misconstrued your experiences as endorsements. LOL
