1290 superduke r newbie not overly impressed yet
Hi guys I got a 1290 and its past the 1000km break in. With the Tc off the bike barely power wheelies in 2nd. From what I've read this bike should seem quicker does it start developing more power as I put more miles on it. My only other bike is a huaberg 650 and it seems to have more initial snap. I do plan on putting on a 16tooth front sprocket. But as it is now this bike isn't impressing me, maybe I shouldn't expect more.

I think you will find most 1290r owners will agree it power wheelies in 4th. With TC on it allows the wheel up a small amount.

I find super difficult - if not super inappropriate - to give this bike 100% on the street in any gear south of 5th.
Difficult in 1-3 without looking like a complete hooligan, inappropriate in 4th because you will look like a hooligan and be exceeding any prudent street speed.
In street mode, traction control on, it can easily pull the front up in 4th.
We have a strange relationship; at 7k miles I still hop on and promise to be prudent if it promises not to kill me, and both seem like lines too easy to cross...

The REALLY humid days eat some power but the other thing you might want to look at when the MTC is off and you try to wheelie the back tire may be spinning on you, also need to just ride it, I got 3rd gear lift around 80 mph the other day when it hit that second wave of torque and it's done it to me in triple digit speed in 4th gear also. Get a buddy to follow and watch that back tire when you wack it.
