F1 light on after sas removal and dongle fitted

Post by C3RRR » Tue Oct 22, 2019 9:08 pm

As the title.
Hey guys, i fitted a sas removal plates and dongle kit and the f1light is on.
The dongle is a ktm part.

I plan to lift the tank again and plug the sas connection back to see if the light goes off.
Any ideas?
I've not messaged the supplier yet but it's unlikely the part is faulty so I'm pissed I have to lift the tank again.
Ive read that i might need to turn it off with tuneecu, it defeats the use of a dongle....
The bike runs fine other than a slight suspect electrical issue, im not sure yet but will investigate

If you google the Rottweiler kit for SAS removal, you will see 2 dongles from memory.

I think that's for the canister removal too bud, the sas valve only had 1 connector.
I'm taking the fuel tank off again, quicker now knowing how it comes off.
I'll report back.

I need to bleed my rear brake too

I did the whole removal of the tank, fitted the sas valve back and the engine light is still on.
Im pissed.
Can service at a dealer just remove it and how much £?
Im tempted just to leave it but it bugs me.
It has a healtech ese, Rottweiler fuel dongles and the light is still on

Ride it a short distance (10 kms) turn off, wait turn back on and ride home. Bike may need to tune in to new set up.

I've tried it mate but still no luck.
I had a electrical problem which reset the clock when i 1st fitted the dongles so it may of been that.
I'll see how it goes.

My KTM mech said the fault warning will go away after 3 on/off ignition cycles..... if the error was a phantom and is not still current....... so try several starts and rides and see if it auto corrects.

Double check the sas removal has been done per the Rottweiler video. Also, I installed a purge valve dongle which promptly failed and threw up a suspension warning and a engine check light and c-light warning etc etc.

The KTM tech tossed the dongle out and plugged the purge valve back in to the loom and then did the 3 ign cycles.... but ultimately had to plug the diag tool back in to clear the check light ;) .........

Not all dongles work properly as they can have variable quality..... but you can be reassured that the carbon canister can be removed without the need for a dongle - mine has been gone for 10,000kms - no dongle - no issues!

Thanks dave, that's sounds comforting to know.
I'll try the bike a few more rides and hopefully it resets.
The procedure was done as shown and double checked.
It does seem to be running right regarding fueling so I'll try not to worry.

Hey guys, guess what?? That poxy yellow engine light has cleared, im so happy. It was getting me down after spending a fair bit of time on it.
I've also bled my rear brake and it great now, i actually use mine as mostly 2up.

Cheers for the assistance
