New Wheel Removal Tool - 60/40mm Combined for 1290 HDESA Brand

Post by Aussie Dave » Wed Jul 31, 2019 12:11 am

Cheers all,

Finally made my mind up to buy the Racefoxx sleeved tool and hopped onto Ebay and there is this new sexy looking wheel removal socket...... (it is one tool - pic just shows both sides)
60 40mm combined Wheel Socket for KTM 1290..... half inch drive..jpeg

I've just ordered mine from California (bsanut) as he was the lowest postage to Aus...... so it was $55 US + post & our GST..... which makes it $132 to my door here in Brisbane. Prob have it in late August.

I think the 40mm side fits the drive sprocket (?)..... in any case the Racefoxx tool was about the same or more from Europe ...... and this one looks very nice...... it will fit into my tail storage in case a country bike shop does not have tooling to fix a flat on a SS swingarm bike.

Cheers JJ,

I thought the same and just had to buy it....... . But it will be a handy item.... I'm hoping the 40mm side does the drive sprocket nut..... there are no hex nuts on the front axle of an SDGT...... if so then I have a tool to swap from 16t to 17t if I want.....

I'm just over 18k kms now.... feeling bloody good on the bike..... should've gone out riding today but heavy threatening clouds tricked me into suburban time wasting...... :x ...... Tomorrow...... ;) .

Glad to hear you are doing well. I have not bought the socket yet. The retirement thing has lowered the level at which I will buy something just because it looks like "tool porn". But I am going to have to take he rear wheel off soon, and I did screw up when I bought the socket I have now - it is a twelve point which I should not be using with my pneumatic impact wrench.....who am I kidding. I'm going to buy it!

:D

My "tool porn" arrived yesterday...... AuPostie on his scooter rode up to the front door with it (he has seen me with the GT so he must have guessed i had bought another toy for it.......

Yep..... it looks just like the pics on the website....... and 'bsanut' packed and posted it properly and quickly. (item was $55Us=$80Au + postage $25Us=$37Au and our gst -thanks Mr harvey  - $12Au + a couple of $ currency conversion, made the tool $132Au to my door).

Maybe Aussie buyers can order it from their bike shops if an importer has it on their listing....... I clicked the 'buy now' button on Ebay while trying to verify the Aus pricing, and :o ..... I had to buy it  ...... but I wanted it, and postage from California was cheaper than the usual $70Au from the eastern states.

It arrived inn Sydney last Wed so that meant Monday delivery to me..... so it was on time as expected and well packed :D .

Now to go out and pull the clips off the rear wheel nut and give that big nut a slight tweak so my clip pins will fit back in easily after using my Snapjack SS for chain mtce.

It looks like the 40mm side is for the nut on the drive chain side of the axle...... 2 tools in one fit in the tail box better than a couple of standard ship size sockets  .

PS Kitchen scales = 6/700grams so it is just a bit more than 1/2kg or approx 1.1lb in weight. looks very nice quality.
