Finally got my Superduke GT

Post by jjscsix » Sun Feb 18, 2018 8:25 pm

Finally got my bike Friday. Unfortunately I was only able to ride it home and now traveling for a week (family reunion cruise so I’m not complaining). I traded my 2016 BMW S1000R for this. Nothing against that bike. I had it two and a half years and put 24,000 great miles in it. It was just time for something new.

It’s always been what I refer to as “the middle bike” that has been my favorite as well. By that I mean the fastest/sportiest bike that I can comfortably ride 350 miles a day, which is my normal Saturday ride. That should be the Superduke GT.

8-) Aircon and fancy floor covering......now who spoils their bikes eh?

Great news! May I suggest selecting 'Sport' engine map right from 1st ride...... GT can be fairly abrupt when new and really tight......and the sport mode isn't a fire breathing wheel standing monster setting....it takes a smidge off the under 4500rpm zone and creates a taller high rpm power curve - but it is nicer to use around town.

Anyway, you will probably fit a larger rear sprocket asap so U can enjoy that lovely engine (even in traffic) :D......it's amazing what a couple of hundred rpms does for smoothness ;)

Hey NZ Dave....... cyclone decided to give Aus a miss and drop in to visit your place - batten down the hatches, man the life boats, wind up the winch etc etc - we have enough wind blowing out of Canberra to push a Cat5 back out to sea....

Welcome Jim, the bike looks great. Now that you have put a few miles on it, what's your opinion? I am back from my trip to Florida and will go look at mine in pieces at Cycle Shack today. I would love to get mine back, for me it has been the best bike I've owned, combining power and handling. Don't get me wrong, I love my BMW GTL, but there is still something about the handling that still seems non-linear. There are absolutely no surprises on the Super Duke.

Joe, I’m very happy with the bike. I’m over 1,000 miles now. My only complain is that neither seat is as comfortable I’d like. I have talked to Sargent. They do not make a seat for it but they have a custom shop that will turn it into a “Sargent” seat. I’ll probably sent the stock. Seat tothem soon. I have a KTM Comfort seat for it also. It has not stopped me from doing a 400 mile day and a 300+ mile day.

Let us know when you want to ride.
