Grinning like a fool!

Post by Loomster » Thu Mar 02, 2017 6:06 pm

Picked it up today, not without drama but all good now. Been out to the garage a few times since parking it up and can't stop grinning. :D
I've come to the GT via an SV1000, a Z1000 and a B-King since returning to biking 15 years ago and I am so glad I made this choice.
I went over to Crescents to try the 2017 naked SD but they didn't have a test bike available so I tried the GT and basically, I didn't want to get off it. The guy who was booked in for the next test ride was trying to pry my fingers off the handlebars while I was doing my best Charlton Heston, shouting .."out of my cold, dead hands!' etc. ;) I then looked online for a second-hand bike and found that there was literally none for sale , which pretty much clinched it for me...it speaks volumes if people are hanging onto their bikes. So, I've gone for a new one.
I've upgraded the seat, got the luggage and waiting for the Evotech tail tidy which will be fitted on first service which if I had ny way would be at some point on Saturday .
Anyways, howdy....I have read pretty much every single post on here over the last few weeks trying to pick up a few pointers here and there, it's been quite educational. 8-)

Thanks Dave, as it happens I've been to Christchurch NZ a few times on my way to skiing in Queenstown when I lived in Sydney.

You need to ride your GT around the South Island, theres some fantastic roads down there.

All good thanks Chris,, I thought I'd do the same as the BKing, i.e. Let you press ahead with the modding and I'll copy you :P
How far is Peterborough exactly?!

Hi Waz! About 180 miles, mine has been left alone bar the end can change to an Arrow. It is a bit of a finnicky old beast with quite a few things having gone wrong!

Oh really?..anything that can be prevented or just leave it for the warranty? I'm expecting a few things to be a pain, I have been reading these and other forums for a few months now.
I am surprised you haven't done the Rottweiler thing though,as that is your normal area of expertise.
I went out yesterday, dropped some stuff into Bournemouth, over to Sandbanks, then ThreeLegged Cross for a bacon roll, as soon as I got off it people came ambling over for a look. Then onto Portsmouth and back to Highcliffe, got about 110 miles onto it and nearer the running in figure. ;)

Initial thoughts, the seat is too hot for jeans, even on lowest setting, the indicator button is about about half an inch to high for me, I have to move my whole hand to operate it and the baffle is a bitch to get out of the Akra without an elongated socket. The cruise control is a bit of a faff on the right hand side, should be swapped w/ the settings option screen but it's not horrendous.
Apart from that, I actually think it's the best bike I've ever ridden let alone, owned.
