Cheers winger and welcome to the site.......

Has been a bit quiet over the winter (for you guys) and the long disgusting hot sweaty summer over here.

But it's starting to fire up now autumn has arrived......

The Gt is bloody addictive eh? Has yours had a +1 or +2 teeth rear sprox put on yet..... makes em nicer to ride in traffic.

The honeymoon period isn’t over yet :D but as I also own a BM X/R I rather like the long legs of the GT,recently had a ‘Wings’ end can arrive from Slovenia and V Stream screen fresh pair of Mich RS’s best of all I managed to secure a home brewed rack off a gent on here(cheers Fred) as we only travel with is a 25L tankbag and and 50L soft bag on the back so it’s perfect for what we want.

I have managed to avoid all things electric when it comes to suspension neither my X/R or K1200 has such and I have already had some interesting conversations about adjusting to such compared to aftermarket Ohlins or Wilbers.

Cheers mate...... I also wish i had Ohlins on my 17GT...... I haven't put enough kms on mine to venture over to my shock servicing guys yet...... maybe they are familiar with the WP active systems and might suggest something to replicate the Ohlins unit I have in my Blackbird 8-) .

The GT sort of feels like it is under damped/under sprung in street & comfort, then turns hard in sport which i think is due to small internal oil passage ways in the shockie...... maybe there is a shim stack mod around now days....... or just maybe, the software from the 19 model might be downloadable to the 17 model (if it is an improvement?).

Time will tell....... They do loosen up with miles and become vastly different to when brand new.

I don't see the active suspension as being 'superior' to good manual suspension..... it's more touring oriented and meant to be easy to set for passenger and/or luggage at the press of a button...... too bad if the factory settings are not what you prefer...... whereas manual systems let you find what you like for your roads and riding style...... That said, the Sachs active suspension on the failed Aprilia Caponord 1200 TP model was pretty fekin good...... allowed full auto or could be set to some manual positions and was stronger than the WP stuff on the SDGT.........

Be careful of apex corrugations...... all these active systems go nuts (like they can't cope) or maybe it's just the fad of not using rising rate linkages that Euro bikes seem so fixated with...... time will tell..... ;)

Thanks for that because these conversations only work with folks who have been the after market route with non electric sus bikes,in the short time I have ridden the bike the only thing I am sure of feels very different from the one I loaned off my mate both bikes have similar mileage the sus on his felt miles better but oddly enough the QS on his was very unimpressive where the bike I have is almost as good as what is on the X/R.

Re: Winger - Pairing Issue

Post by Aussie Dave » Tue Apr 09, 2019 8:01 am

Cheers winger...... also post on the 'KTM forum'....... it has several 19GT owners onboard and there is a lot more activity than on here at present...... ;) ...... and I'm sure someone will have the answer for you.

Always welcome to drop in...... and let us know how you get on with the issue.....

Ps I just got my first glimpse of a 19GT's dash on Saturday when I was at my local KTM shop...... very nice big analogue tacho display around a nice big digital speedo  ...... but the other numbers are a bit small for us crusty old codgers  ...... though the dash is angled nicely to avoid sun flashes into eyes like I get with my 17GT.

Errrrrr, what happened to the pairing issue I was responding to...... hmmmmm..... weird or what......

Aaaah...... in teething issues.....

Welcome in mate, Easter weather is looking antisocial (family wise) too nice and mild to stay in :D
Like Aussie Dave I have seen the 19 version and attracted as I was with all the sales bumf, when I actually looked at the display I didnt see the £7k they wanted for a px for my 17 model.
I havent changed the sprocket yet because I havent felt the need.. plus I spent all my money on an Akro exhaust, because its quieter ;)
