New GT

Post by Moggz » Thu Aug 31, 2017 7:42 am

Well I finally decided to change my amazing '15 sdr for a '17 sdgt. 3 days in, 300 smiles per miles and I can feel this is going to be an amazing ride.

Gonna get the first service out of the way , then comes the choices of any performace upgrades available. Any suggestions as there doesnt seem to be that many for the gt at the moment

Congrats on your new GT Moggz, i also traded in my 1290R for the GT, still really happy with the GT. Mods I've done are the Rottweiler SAS removal system (stage 2), a Remus link pipe and can, O2 sensor removal kit, also Rottweiler supplied. Trex crank case protectors ( a must) just ordered some Acerbis hand guards, oh best edition was a 40 tooth rear sprocket. 11,000Ks now, other than the stand spur breaking off, she's been plain sailing, great all-round bike, loving mine. i just fitted a set of Roadtec 01s, very nice tire, very neutral steering.
2016 1290GT-remus link and muffler, 2010 Black 1200 Multistrada full Termi system with mapping, 2005 SMR 640, full Titanium system, Mikuni flatside racing carb, 2 sets of wheels, 18 litre tank, and a nice soft seat.

any issues with the remus link pipe or concerns with that awful exhaust valve?

I've got a Remus link pipe with my GT and with little cam Remus includes in the kit to replace the missing exhaust valve there is no issues. Works just fine, and no error codes.

Similar, I've now done 10,000Ks with the Remus link and muffler, with the little cam fitted. i think the little cam is gentler on the the valve actuator (motor) quite a few actuators have been failing, too much stiction id say.

Bygeee-byjingo-bycrikey- performance upgrade - faaaaaark - mine goes like stink as it came out of the crate (well after a few 000k to loosen up etc)...

I'll know how it goes with the K & N airfilter from the next official service (15k kms) as I've been changing the oil & filter in between and haven't plucked up the courage to extract the tank and bung in the filter myself

10,000kms and "we" are :D

Ps my rear shocky has softened up even more than I was expecting.....tricky thing.....so be patient with the suspension.....it will feel difficult to find a setting that works when the bike is spanking new, but once the surfaces, springs, seals, oil etc etc work in it becomes easy to find something that suits without either floating around or bum bashing over bumps... ;)

Oh, my apology.......welcome aboard the GT forum :)
