where does the tool pouch live?

Post by nlastovi » Wed Feb 01, 2017 6:23 pm

This lovely 1290 SA. Came with a tool pouch. But I can not figure where it fits and it seems silly that it is a garage-only piece. Am I missing something obvious?

No idea where you are as it isn't in your profile but on European bikes it fits under the seat.

now that I look close... Under the passenger seat on my bike, there is a plastic box thing there in the tray. It is a bit bigger than a tool kit would be. On the top of it are the words "tank" and "purge" and looks like a couple of hoses running to it. I posit that it is emissions related. Kinda a hack though using up that otherwise handy space.

also - btw - my profile does show "country: usa" "city: salida" (central colorado).

A trip through the parts book leads me to number #1 in the picture; part 60415001000 "EVAPORATE CANISTER". Have to evaluate if it is viable to retire it.

to close the circle on this one... I removed the charcoal canister. I plugged the 'purge' line. I rerouted the tank vent line down to the front right side of the motor along the other hoses. I put a bit of cargo strap between the two existing mounting holes for the canister. Just tight enough to hold down the tool bag and a cleaning rag securely.

everything is thus right with the world once again. :D

that interface looks a lot different that mine. not sure what to make of it. pretty clear to me that my profile and posts explicitly indicate USA.

I removed all the useless pollution stuff following the video listed above. Gained enough room under the seat for tool roll, flashlight, and extra box of 9mm ammo.
