Re: New Oberon
Nice, just purchased one of these for my 16 SE, did you bleed it from the master cylinder down, or from the slave up.

Re: New Oberon
The Oberon slave I had on my SMT was really easy to reverse bleed. I've never managed to do it with a KTM slave.
I'll be getting one for my Superduke because the original is constant trouble and the lever action feels weak and flaccid. I hate it. Oberon going on this winter.
Though I am wondering whether the clutch trouble might be the master cylinder. I've had absolutely no trouble with the clutch on my 1190 Adv and that's got the OE slave and the old-school Magura master cylinder and when SMT's slave failed it leaked. The Superduke's slave doesn't leak and the fluid level never drops, it just loses pressure at the lever and the disengagement point keeps creeping closer to the handlebars. I'm assuming its the slave because they're a known KTM weakness although I've bled it many times and never found a lot of air in it and I've never managed to get a nice firm lever - which it had when it was new - from bleeding the slave. So I hope it is the slave because the master cylinder is not such an easy (or cheap) fix.

Re: New Oberon
Just did mine, I was bleeding it for an hour. Might try reverse bleeding next week. Btw not sure where you are located but I bought mine from eBay from a dealer in Canada and couldn’t have been happier. Also, cheaper.

Re: New Oberon
When I purchased mine I used the recommended gravity bleed. Before mounting the slave I just filled the unit with the correct fluid, bolted on the banjo (hand tightened), bolted and torqued the slave and torqued the banjo, attached all the neccessary bleeding equipment and just filled the reservoir with fluid and watched as it came out the bleed nipple at the bottom. Just watch you do not empty the upper reservoir or you will introduce air into the system. The only thing I had to do was bleed the tiny nipple at the lever as I still had no clutch. The nipple is tiny so be careful when you tighten it.
The last time I did a fluid change it took me all of about 5 minutes. Most of the time was spent setting it all up.
Do a search for Oberon gravity bleed and you should come up with something.
Cheers and Merry Christmas

Re: New Oberon
I bought mine from Oberon since they state they had a lifetime rebuild and they have the record of it. I use ebay a lot probably way too much lol.

Re: New Oberon
The slave itself wasn’t so bad. I can’t get rid of tiny tiny bubbles from the small nipple. I think I did 3 reservoirs of fluid and still had some. Clutch works fine, but might give it another try or do reverse bleeding.vernonbc wrote:When I purchased mine I used the recommended gravity bleed. Re: New Oberon
Does this fit the SDR 2017? I only see on the oberon site until 2016... Has anyone added this to a SDR 2017?
Thanks

Re: New Oberon
Just fitted one on my GT to replace a twice replaced Magura. There have been various reports on KTM forums of owners struggling to bleed the slave. I would suggest reverse bleeding with a 60ml syringe and some PU tubing. Open the bleed nipple slightly and push fluid through until no more bubbles appear. Tighten the nipple replace the reservoir cap then attach a tube to the master cylinder nipple, loosen slightly and pull the lever gently once and re-tighten the nipple. You should have a nice firm action at the lever.

Re: New Oberon
Do you guys recommend purchasing the billet aluminium backing plate as well? A buddy just had his oem one fail on his 2015 RC8.
