Changing Graphics.

Post by Camac » Thu Mar 30, 2017 6:02 pm

Guys,

I fancied a change and have just purchased a O.E. "Style" graphics kit for my 1290 Superduke. I know that on the tank the originals are lacquered over so i will need to fit them over the originals.

On the tank side panels (Plastic) they are not lacquered over. Question; Do i remove them or just fit them over originals ?

If remove, what`s the best way ?

Thanks.

I just looked at mine and the side panel stickers are definitely lacquered over, as opposed to the "1290" stickers on the headlight which are not.
Regardless, to answer your question: wipe around the edge of the sticker with an "earth friendly" goo remover, then use a new scalpel blade to carefully lift and peel. Repeat as necessary. Be fucking careful...

Thanks for the info mate. I might get someone more experienced than me to do it.
Cheers.

Gwarn mate, have a go...
You're putting on new stickers anyway, right?

I would if I had any dexterity. To be honest if it's mechanical I'll have a go, if it's decorative leave it to someone who knows what their doing.

After encouragement from nitekreeper I decided to take a gamble and do the graphics myself......We'll my wife and I to be totally truthful.
I didn't remove any original graphics, I just fitted the new ones over the old....and if I say so we did not a bad job.
Only did the tank and side panels though as that's all I wanted to change.
It transforms the bike ...IMO.
Looks a lot more sporty. Really pleased with it.
