Flapper valve removal

Post by Super Duke ND » Tue Jul 18, 2017 10:56 pm

I have a new 17 super duke r and I'm thinking about installing a de cat Austin racing pipe. My question is about the flapper valve on the end of the cat, like can I just remove it, use a dongle or is that something a dealer has to do. Really don't want to have to trailer it all the way to the dealer so it doesn't throw a code

Yep it will throw a code and have to be flashed to get rid of it ...also it will run lean ..so you should get another map flashed into it at that time

I have a '16, so I don't know if this will work on the Duke, but on my R6, I was able to just remove the cables, but leave the servo motor there (under the seat in this case). Is the motor attached to the frame or the exhaust?
