As far as I know, removing catalytic converter makes a remap mandatory.

Actually after looking at people that have ditched the cat on places like you tube I think I will leave it at the mo, it's a bit, if it ain't broke don't fix sort of thing, I think you can get a bit carried away with all the after market stuff and maybe ruin it a bit, well just a thought anyway.

Re: De-cat link pipe
Mogas,
I love my SDR since it has had cat removed (Remus decat and ti-can), that along with the Akra/Evo map K/N air filter and SAS pulled runs so smooth and sounds awesome. The total cost to make these changes was easily under 1k, did all the work myself other than load of the map which was 60 bucks. I have been riding for 45 years now and with these changes its the most fun bike I have ever had the pleasure to own or even ride. I had a Buell XB12 STT that was next best but not nearly the power.
Handling was on par though, Erik Buell can build a bike!

Yes, you certainly could, but it's a matter of self control.mogas64 wrote:Actually after looking at people that have ditched the cat on places like you tube I think I will leave it at the mo, it's a bit, if it ain't broke don't fix sort of thing, I think you can get a bit carried away with all the after market stuff and maybe ruin it a bit, well just a thought anyway.

That must be my problem Pops I have no self control! I blame it on that!

See, this seems doable and the right combination. Although I'm going with Bodis, (insert can here), SAS delete, intake and/or high flow filter + Akra tune.HDKAWKTM wrote:Mogas,

What I'm hearing you say is you never lost any bottom end, don't throw any codes, and the wonderful fuelling that was already there has been improved upon. Correct?
What year is yours? I'm on a '17 and a tad hesitant much like the poster above.

Re: De-cat link pipe
Bags
Mine is a 15 and I been riding bikes a long time and mine feels stronger to me, way smoother as well. I would make this change if Mine was a 17. I would not do the high dollar intake swap since I don't want the noise that comes with it per all I have read and the akra map does not take into account that drastic of a change i would bet. Mine really smoothed out when the SAS was removed for sure. Never had it on a dyno and no plans to do so since I feel it's perfect now, 3-4 hp for another 600 to 1k is not worth it and heck more changes may hurt, its a chance I dont want to make.
