Austin Racing slip on

Post by mogas64 » Mon Jun 05, 2017 5:52 pm

Hello everyone, my first post having just found this site, my Super Duke R is. 2016 model, and I have just had made up an Austin Racing GP1R can , although quite expensive it really makes the bike sound really mean now, next is maybe a decat link pipe I think, Cheers.
Current bike, 2016 KTM 1290 Super Duke R Edizione Speciale, with lots of spangly bits and a private plate Fnarr Fnarr !!!🇬🇧

The sound will come from removing the catalytic converter.

I'm interested in the Austin racing cans, I'm considering a slip-on without removing the cat, does it sound a lot better/louder/meaner etc than stock? Cheers.

It sounds mental even with the cat, the bloke at my dealership says to leave the cat on as I was going to get a decat pipe, he did it on his 1290 SD R and has now put it back on as it buggers the nice running of the engine up even doing a 're chip , they are a difficult engine to set up when you start mucking about with aftermarket mods, so get an Austin Racing can and enjoy the soundtrack as you ride along , I don't wear ear plugs with this bike as I love the sound.

I eventually decided on the Pipe Werx slip on, leaving the cat in place. I've read so many threads and bloggs about losing power and torque here and there when messing with the cat and SAS and airboxes etc. I've also read a number of claims that it is impossible for a slip-on can to affect the noise, due to the cat.
Well my bike is 100% different from stock, and different with and without the baffles/noise eliminators.

It now looks better (subjective of course), sounds better and doesn't need a remap. So, am I happy? Well, my problem is that I can't stop bloody tinkering and fiddling, so I will probably de-cat eventually, and remap and airbox and and and.....
But for now, very happy! :-)

I have a 2015 that has the cat and sas removed and has a K&N filter with the evo map and runs fantastic. Sound is unbelievable. Can and mid both Remus
