Full Akra set up minus a bit

Whilst cleaning the 1290 the other day I noticed I’ve touched the ground with the ti exhaust header on the right side of the bike. Stock rear sets were known for low ground clearance and when I bought my 1290 they had been swapped for the Powerparts version. Nothing about exhaust ground clearance has been mentioned. Suspension isn’t too soft, I’m running all the track settings. Guess I must have hit a bump in the road whilst lent over?? I’ve searched the web and the forum and can’t find anyone else having this problem. Any other theories?

If your not using aftermarket fork cartridges, the stock springs are very light. For some reason KTM thought it was a good idea to not install preload adjusters. Sounds like you need heavier springs. Track settings only affect the compression and rebound.

Put a zip tie on your fork and take the bike for a ride. The bottoming out point is about 1.5 cm from the base. If the zip tie makes it down there, your springs are to soft.

Thanks for the tip. I’ll try that. I suppose with kit on I’m about 92kg (just over 14stones). Would that be too heavy for stock springs?
