Get my full akra delivered tomorrow, few ?s

Post by jgiachino » Tue Sep 11, 2018 2:43 am

Planing on having dealer install / map since they're 60mi's away...

Ive searched all the threads on here and just have a basic question - with just the akra provided kit, eg no rotty airbus or anything else will I gain power / torque across the board? is there any low/mid range loss due to freer flowing exhaust?

Also, I'm in Colorado at 5k' (home) - up to 10k once in a while..and the akra map is rich and the bike can only adjust so much...any speculation on challenges with altitude?

I bought mostly for sound / looks, power doesnt hurt but dont want to give up low/mid and only gain high rpm power....

thoughts appreciated

Have a look here [url]https://youtu.be/YtXYCNLslTo/url] it should answer some of your questions on power etc

I'm in Santa Fe, 7000 ft. I've got the akra as well, standard airbox, no PCV. Bike runs well. First couple tanks of gas, the fueling was sorting itself out a bit, mileage was really poor (low to mid 20's mpg). But after 150 miles or so it really improved. I now average 35 mpg, up to 40 if I'm just cruising. There's no noticeable loss of power or torque anywhere, and I'd say a noticeable gain everywhere. For me, the sound is just right, not too loud, but nice and deep. I suspect, though it's just a feeling, that there are some improvements to be had, with a Power Commander or something similar. I'm personally considering the Rapid Bike, as I don't have access to a trustworthy dyno nearby, but it's not a necessity. A few times I've gotten to lower elevation, @ 3000 feet, and man, you can really feel the difference then. Altitude really eats the horses.
