Rear brake lever is contacting clutch case

Post by jhalfhide » Wed Jul 19, 2017 11:30 pm

My rear brake lever is rubbing on the clutch case, to the point where I now have two grooves in the clutch case from the 2 lever screws.

I'm thinking I should order the 2 bearings that connect the lever. Has anyone else had the same and diagnosed it as the bearings?

The lever is not bent. You can pull the lever into position, but it springs back into contact with the clutch case. Seems like too much movement on he mounting shaft to me which would signal bearings.

Are there bearings... ? I didn´t know that. A look at the KTM shop tells me that you are right. Replace them and also replace the screw, is my advice.

I didn't know myself. Went on the parts manual, expecting to see a rubber bush or something.

Just to show you all what I was talking about, see below pics of the rubbing. I've still not ordered the parts as I used a metal spacer and longer bolt as a temporary measure.

It does appear that I only have 1 of the 2 required bearings though. This would probably explain my problem. Damn previous owner [DISAPPOINTED FACE]

If you do the temp spacer route in the meantime, make sure the spacer is small enough that it doesn't contact the lever or your brake pedal won't return after pressing. It must sit on the bearing.

I'll get around to ordering them soon, need to order some new discs too after a disc lock incident
