Clock time changing and fading display

Post by bigred » Thu Sep 22, 2016 10:50 pm

Hey All

After a month of owning my 2013 SMT I am more than happy but the one big niggle is that the clock has changed the time twice now for no apparent reason, moving many hours from the correct time. No problem resetting it but it doesn't seem to hold.
Is this connected to the two or three of the temp display bars having displayed as shadowed (about 50% of normal blackness) a couple of times when riding in the rain.

My guess is that there is water inside the instrument cluster for the display to shadow, and perhaps the clock timing is a short?

Anyone else had this problem? And found a fix?

The answer was already here, viewtopic.php?f=13&t=4246

Simple. but nerve wracking, fix.

If you don't fancy taking your instrument panel apart, that sounds like a simple job for an auto-electronics repair specialist.
Over here prices start at about £75 for servicing/repair/recalibrating. Better than £400 for a new one.

Thanks Gimlet, but it is done!
$11 for dielectric grease and a couple of hours seems to have fixed it.
