Engine casing sinkhole?

Squeaky back brake? Hard to control at 30mph/40kph?

Engine casing sinkhole?

Please tell me this is normal? I have only just noticed this weird gap in the water pump housing that attaches to the engine casing?! :shock:

How did you even see that ? I've just had a look and it's virtually impossible to get into a position to see it.

I took some more pictures with my phone with the flash on this time.

Looks almost like it was manufactured this way, but I still find it rather odd. There are not many SMT's around here that I can peek at to verify if this is normal.
